Introduction - Alex
Good Morning Rangers,
My name is Alex, I'm a 19 year old Polish student studying in Long Island, NY
I'm enlisting in August 2017 (as soon as I'm eligible) under the MAVNI program, since I'm not a citizen. I will most likely enlist as an 11X, but still haven't fully made up my mind as to what MOS I should pick. I am also inelibible for an Op 40, so I'll have to find another way to get to RASP.
I've always wanted to be an American soldier because of what this country stands for and represents. Recently I've set my mind on the Ranger Regiment and have now spent the best part of 3 months preparing with that in mind. I'm determined to wear the scroll and jump out of C-17s.
I've never played any sports on a professional/college level, but I live an active life and hike/run often. I've lived in the Middle East so I'm also pretty accustomed to insane heat. I speak 4 languages and I'm currently learning Russian. I'm training 5 days a week. I don't smoke (anything) but I do drink.
PFT (Most Recent)
Pushups: 42
Situps: 70
2 Mile: 16:10
(Ankle deep snowy field, usually run around between 13:30-14:10)
Pullups: 6 (underhand grip)
Thank you for your time Rangers.

Re: Introduction - Alex
Thank you very much for the welcome Ranger Jim and Ranger Charlie. I will keep up with the PT, I know that with the large amount of time I have to prepare it would be a disgrace if my scores are anything below 300.
I'm looking very hard for any information on how a MAVNI soldier would get to the Ranger Regiment. Searching through the web has given me only conflicting information. On the official Army forums, someone wrote in reply to a potential SF/75th hopeful that once U.S. Citizenship is earned (sometime before OSUT ends), the soldier can volunteer for RASP during OSUT/BAC. I posted on the 'Ask a Recruiter' page on Reddit to be sure and a Recruiter (Infantry) said:
"You won't be able to get it during OSUT, because like I mentioned before, you won't be able to qualify for a Secret clearance right after getting your citizenship. Expect to wait a couple years before they let you apply for one."
I searched the forums here and came up with only 1 other post that mentioned MAVNI; an introduction from a Georgian-American Permanent Resident (Soap) who technically doesn't qualify for MAVNI since he already has a Green Card. Furthermore he was banned shortly before he shipped so it's another dead end.
Questions:
1) Can I create a post asking if anyone has any information on the MAVNI program that pertains to the Ranger Regiment?
2) If not, where might I obtain some information? My recruiter hasn't yet gotten back to me and since I'm not eligible for another 500 days or so I don't want to pester him for info.
My case is pretty rare since from what I've read/heard about MAVNI most applicants are just doing it for the Citizenship. Not to PT endlessly and pull security on a cold a** rooftop during a raid (with the Scroll).
Also piggybacking on this question... What MOSs do infantry things apart from 11B in the Regiment? 13F (Fire Support Specialist) and 68W (Health Care Specialist) come to my mind, but is there anything else that I could try for? Also I gather that since 11B is so popular, it might be easier to get a slot to the 75th with a different MOS.
Thank you for your time. Will ruck march 1 mile or do 50 Push-ups in appreciation for every post - Alex

Re: Introduction - Alex
First, lets start with a question. Who gave you permission to rename one of our members. Apparently you have not read the rules of this site, nor the FAQs. I want you to look at the signature line of the Ranger that you renamed, them give me a right up on Charlie Rangers in Vietnam.
Second, your PT scores need a lot of work, but more importantly, don't ever enter an APFT score with an excuse. I don't care if the snow was ankle deep or chest deep, Rangers don't make excuses. Take the test, post the scores, no excuses.
Third, Welcome to the site, hopefully there's someone here who knows the answers to your questions. Give everything you've got, every time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

Re: Introduction - Alex
Ranger rangerjd, sir, I was stupid to think that CharlieRanger was a reference to a name and not to C Company of the 75th Infantry (Ranger) Regiment. My apologies to Ranger CharlieRanger1FFV.
This will not happen again. Same goes for the APFT. I will take the test within 72 hours and post the results. No excuses will be made ever again.
Thank you for welcoming me Sir, and thank you for correcting me.
I will never quit.

Re: Introduction - Alex
Ranger Jim, Sir, thank you for the link. Unfortunately the information there is nothing new to me. There is however an email provided for potential 75th Recruits. If my recruiter doesn't reply within a week or so I'll send them an email with my question.
Thank you for your help Ranger Jim.

Re: Introduction - Alex
Update:
I have just found out that I CAN earn a slot to RASP during OSUT/BCT. I am extremely happy with this news, as now my future is mostly in my hands.
All that remains now is to PT hard, and prepare for when I'm eligible (August 2017). I will try to get the time somehow waived (I spent most my high school in a Florida Military Academy, but left for a gap year abroad) but I doubt that's going to happen.
I've also found a group of MAVNIs (foreigners who are enlisting) who also share the same goal, so we can continue to motivate each other to keep pushing. Although they'll most likely be in the Battalions so at least I'll know some people once I get there.
I'll run the PFT early morning tomorrow and post the results.
Thank you for your time. Never quit.

Good afternoon Ranger Jim, Sir.
I have been continuing my training program and will self-administer APFT (+ Pull-ups) once I am finished with it in roughly 5 weeks time. 501 Days to go until I sign on the dotted line. Apart from that I have been keeping busy with college. Never Quit!

Most recent APFT:
Score: 232
Push-ups: 43
Sit-Ups: 69

Disappointed with my slow progress. Will keep working and post next APFT within 1-2 months. 450 Days until I start the process of enlisting.
