Introduction - FutureSoldierMA

Post by FutureSoldierMA »

Hello Rangers,

My name is Mike and I joined this website for the opportunity to gather as much information and wisdom as possible about the Ranger Regiment. I am a 17 year old from Massachusetts, and am going into my senior year. I participate in Cross Country and Track (which has been an extremely difficult yet rewarding experience), and am very interested in history. I have planned on joining the U.S. Army since I was very young, I want to serve my country, push myself, prove my worth, and be part of something greater than myself. I gained interested in becoming a Ranger because of the high standards they hold themselves to and the high risk they put themselves in by protecting this country and their fellow soldiers. When I first learned about the Ranger Regiment I thought it was incredible what they do, but something much too difficult for me to be part of. In the last year though I have had to seriously start looking at what I want to do in the Army (I always knew I wanted a combat MOS), and the Ranger Regiment kept coming to mind. As a kid and young teen I was very passive, shy, and not really assertive or confident, but as i'm getting older and approaching 18 thats changing. I want to be the best I can be, and I want to prove to myself that I can accomplish what I set out to do. Thats why I plan to enlist as an 11x with an Option 40, because when I was younger it was something I always wished I could do. I intend to make that dream a reality. I love my country, I take pride in those who serve it and plan to join their ranks. I really appreciate the opportunity to be a member on this site, and know that i'll learn a lot. Thank you

Welcome to the site. You've got a PT base to work off of, not real good, but a base none the less. Do as Jim said and add pull-ups to your PT. Read the fitness threads, there is a ton of information there to help you improve. Give everything you've got, every time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

Two questions:
a. What MOS do you want to work in?
b. Have you contacted an Army recruiter?

Ranger Jim, to answer your questions
1. I want to work in an 11x field.
2. I did go see a recruiter in April with my mother, it was mainly to help her get acquainted with the idea of me in the Army. Her and my father will not sign any papers though so I have to wait until I am 18 to enlist. I did get some questions answered by the recruiter, like how MOS selection works, and that my flat feet aren't a disqualifier.

I am familiar with your area. At the moment I'm involved in a situation that requires my immediate attention. Keep doing exactly what you're told here in a professional manner and give 100% and then some, when I wrap this up in a week or two weeks or whenever, if you're squared away I will contact you to see if I can help in some way.
