SITREP-Bigyota

Post by bigyota »

Hey Rangers, a long overdue sitrep here. I think I failed sending Ranger Jim a PM after Darby Phase, so here goes.

I am graduating Ranger School tomorrow, 5 December with class 1-15. I started RTAC on 20 September and by the grace of God and about 45 Ranger Buddies I went straight through after that. I was 2/2 on SL patrols in Darby (Field Planning and Actions On/Ambush), 1/3 in Mountains (Day 9 SL Go), and a one look pony PSG (Patrol Base/Planning) in Florida.

If anyone has read my bio, I BOLO'd class 3-98 as a 19 year old 2/75 PFC because I was a total shithead, and took 17 years to go back and make things right as a 36 year old SFC. Thanks to everyone for posting here because I've read some good and honest advice from many of you to other aspiring Rangers, and sometimes it got me out of the funk of feeling sorry for myself! I am very proud to finally (well, as of tomorrow) wear the coveted Black and Gold! And fyi, I'm not leaving post on my last pass before graduation!!

RLTW!

No, I got your e-mail.
Ranger Jim, sorry I've been on comms blackout, but I have an update.
Finished RTAC and started class 01-15 of Ranger school on 5 October. I
went 2 for 2 on patrols as SL actions on/Ambush and SL field planning, 87%
on peers. I'm heading to mountains here soon and feeling pretty good,
stopping buy Commando's to refit in a minute and booking back to Rogers.
Wish me luck and I hope to have more good news in a few weeks!!

Thanks for the congratulations and welcomes, men. It's still sinking in and I'm still grinning from ear to ear. I've got some pretty up to date info, at least as far as C Co RTB goes, so if anyone needs some fresh poop they can hit me up.

As a quick side note, my day to day job is at work with the electric company. Walking up the sides of every slope in Dahlonega and crossing the swamps of Florida really made me miss my cushy office chair and seriously question my life choices! I'm sure many of you have felt the same. After 17 years of going back and forth, motivation and opportunity once again crossed paths. Although my years in the Regiment are long gone and a fond memory (well, most of them), I am proud to finally wear the black and gold and hopefully lead more men in future conflicts.
