Hank, you will NOT lose your mos 68W if you go to the meps and reno. Here is a truncated version of the process: Once your reno is approved you'll be scheduled to go back to the meps and sit with the meps counselor, they can look in the request system and see if we have any option 40's on the system with different MOSs. If they cannot find any he can call the ROC and ask if they have have any option 40s. You'll never lose your current option until you agree to accept a new option.

Option 40 with 68W is always a difficult option to get because we (USAREC) just don't get that many slots. I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you need any help.

Listen Hank, I asked PerryB to address your question. My question remains, what are you doing to change your life?

Hank, I've never seen a reno disapproved. Recruiters and their leaders get nervous about renos because they're afraid you won't ship if you don't get what you want. What you need to understand is once your reno is approved you can reno for an option 40 for the mos that is available or keep the 68W without the option 40. If I was the GC at your meps I would email or call the ROC NCOIC and ask for an option 40 upgrade to your contract. Some people are afraid to reach out and ask but the worst that will happen is he says no. I've found that you can usually get what you want if you try hard enough.
Good luck,

Not good enough beating your face - excuses (good/bad) should have included 25 push ups + 1
