My name is John & I am 22 years old from Arizona. I have been serving for 1 year this May as an 11B and I am currently serving with 1/17IN 2-2ID @ Ft. Lewis. I have held several various positions within my platoon such as Stryker crewman, rifleman, and M240L gunner
I've trained at Yakima Training Center during FEB 2014 and my unit is scheduled to leave for National Training Center this upcoming June

Welcome, John. Do you plan to transfer to one of the Ranger battalions?

Roger that, Ranger Jim. When I finished Sua Sponte: The Forging of a Modern American Ranger I really wanted to speak to a Ranger about the process that's involved for a LEG coming from world-wide & earning the opportunity to attend RASP 1. Long story short, 2/75 is gated but luckily I ran into their Ranger Recruiting information. I sent my ERB & in return I was sent the RASP 1 Application.

Currently, this is where I stand Rangers.

Respectfully,
John

Welcome! theres a lot of great info on here I guess if you can't find a Ranger there at 2/75 to talk to this site is the next best thing.

Good luck

Rangers,

NTC @ Ft. Irwin came & went by rather quickly. Our platoon gained some useful training out there in the Mojave desert.
Got to meet some ROK Army soldiers which was awesome. We traded patches, money, flags, ranks, and MRE's.

Last month during September my physical packet was completed and along with my incomplete RASP 1 application packet I was escorted to see my 1SG about Letters of Recommendation from himself & our CO. Our meeting was extremely brief & informal in the Company Training room.
1SG looked at the RASP 1 application packet for a good 15 seconds & said "I'll consider it" and walked away. I stayed in the training room & was asked by the training room NCO to send the RASP 1 packet to him so we could get started. Since then no new progress has been made. I want to earn my leaderships support for these Letters of Recommendations & get this packet knocked out.
However, I don't want to become a nuisance to my leadership by pestering but I also don't want this opportunity to keep getting pushed back.

Currently, I am making the transition in our platoon as the official RTO and tomorrow our platoon will be conducting a diagnostic APFT. I will post results afterwards. Also, EIB train-up is coming & will be during December and testing/grading will be in January or February 2015.
Date still isn't concrete, yet.

Respectfully,
John

Worst-case scenario, you will have to wait till your next re-up and request RASP. Just remember, in the military, for every cat that says "No", there is someone above them who can say "yes"

Roger that, sometimes your best answer is one more step up the chain of command, especially if someone up the chain of command has a Ranger tab and understands the drive on mentality. Never quit, never back down. RLTW

The squeeky wheel geets the greese my friend just keep bugging them. I had my Squad Leader write my letters and give them to the 1SG and Commander to Sign. This was after wating a month on them with no results, they did get signed right away after my Squad Leader turned them in though. If you wait on them to write the letters it will never happen they are far to busy and this is something that will be verry low on thier proirity list. If you find ways to make it easier on them its much more likley to work in your favor. I just dealt with all this and it was a huge pain in the butt for me so if you need help with anything let me know im willing help out where I can.
