I think it depends on what you want. Personally, if I had the opportunity, I would take the Option 40.

On Monday I'm scheduled to sign the papers with my recuiter and reserve a contract. If all goes smoothly I'll probably go to MEPS next week as well.

I just reserved a 11X Option 40 contract with my recruiters. I'm headed to MEPS on Tuesday/Wednesday to swear in. Quick question, on my "Application Copy" of my reservation, it says:

Job: 11X1 O00 YY

Title: Infantry Recruit

Option: 40
Title: US Army Airborne Ranger

First Assignment: RGV4 - Ranger Training

However when it lists my specific training it only mentions OSUT and Airborne, should I be concerned or am I definitely guaranteed a shot at RASP?

Also, my recruiter said I'm guaranteed a spot at Ranger School, not RASP... I'm guessing he just doesn't know exactly what he is talking about. There is no contract for Ranger School correct? I'm probably just paranoid however I just want to make sure it's the correct contract.

Chandler, congrats and yeah your recuiter is a idiot. You'll be going to RASP after airborne school. USAREC currently doesn't have the ability to send a anyone to Ranger School. I know in the past a few RASP graduates went to Ranger school right after RASP but I am unaware if they are still doing that.

When I glanced at the recruiter's computer, next to 11x I saw: 405 seats available. Now I have no idea how many of those had the Ranger Contract but now is probably a good time to check if you are a senior in high school.
