Ahh yes, 1969. You probably have never heard this before, but in the Chinese calender 1969 is know as "The year of Training". Basic, AIT, NCOIC, Ranger School, then off to I Co., 75th Inf in RVN.

Thank you C-MAC for your family's sacrifice.
Let's remember your cousin, RIP Warrior & all our soldiers before & since.

I used to wonder how much my LBE weighed.
I carried 4 pouches, each containing 4 M-16 Magazines with 19 rounds per magazine.
6 baseball grenades, 1 WP, 1 smoke, canteen of water.
I would guess 20-25 lb.

1968 was also a strange time. I was MEDEVACED from Viet-Nam, got out of Walter Reed to heal on the day MLK was killed. The day I left to go to Panama, RFK was killed. But, I got promoted to SSG (E-6) in November 1968.

It amazes me still to this day just how much history, how many 'living eyes' we have right here before us that have not only seen, but have been directly involved in so much of America's history.

Many thanks to you all, from my family to yours.

I could say the same about you, Jeff. I still owe you a steak at my favorite strip club.
