is my recruiter lieing to me to avoid paperwork?

Post by starkface »

i leave for BCT in 3 weeks to fort benning, my contract currently is 11x.
while at MEPS i was TDQ'd by some crock doctor claiming that because of my
poor vision (-7.00) i MIGHT have a eye defect called carataconus ( or
something like that, id never heard of it before ) it apparently is
something that makes your eye instead of spherical, cone shaped. i clearly
did not have this and it was some MEPS BS. so i went home and i was
preparing for my consult and setting up doctor appointments from
specialists to check JUST TO BE 100% POSITIVE that i did not have the
dysfunction and have some artillery to throw at the doctors if they tried
pinning it on me again. but it never got that far, my recruiter apparently
called someone at MEPS and got it passed. i never saw a doctor, or talked
to the meps doctors after that. but when i went to speak with my counselor
to get my desired job ( 11x with option 40 ) but my counselor told me that
i cant have a ranger job because i had a waiver in my file.. so i settled
with just 11x and figured id find my way towards it once im in cuz i want
it bad enough. now i keep reading about how people are getting option 40 in
their contract with fairly bad waivers! like asthma, or knee surgeries
because of ligament damage or cartilage damage etc. for me first off, i was
told to get a waiver for something i didnt even have, and i never even had
to get a waiver for it! but my counselor still said i couldnt have it
because it was in my file and there was nothing she could do and i wasnt
aloud to join. so i asked my recruiter today if we could renegotiate my
contract at all and add option 40 or at the very least add get an airborne
contract attached to it, she simply said no its not possible.

what should i do?

Thanks for your reply ManchuV. Your last statement about the kid with the asthma and how he hasn't had an inhaler for years, I've never ever had that eye dysfunction or anything near it- I just wear contacts

he made a inaccurate diagnosis that he pulled out of his little book of disqualifying dysfunctions and decided I had it. I never had any evidence of it or brought it up to him. I sat down and to talk to him and he said something along the lines of " Oh, your visions bad" and I said.."yeah but its correctable with contacts/glasses/surgery" and he followed that up with " well you might have keratoconus."
me " what is that.."
doc " a disease in which your cornea is cone shaped."
me " I dont have that.. I've been going to a eye doctor since I was in kindergarten. I think I would know if I had it or not."
doc " well for now you're TDQ'd"
me " RAAAAAHHHHHHH!@#$$##" (in my brain)
