Good idea...I'm LEO though. I never leave my house without a handgun, work or off.

I tend to keep one close by, but not necessarily on my person. I do always attempt to maintain situational awareness.

Guns are evil-bad, and according the those in office I don't really have the right to defend myself anyway without trying to escape first.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Of course, I might be carrying a gun for things other than personal protection, such as signaling Mexicans that they have reached a safe haven, letting criminals know that I am out of ammo and they can now feel safe to rob me, allowing self righteous left wing douche nozzles to feel justified in their anti-gun smugness, etc.

I almost got fired for carrying a pocket knife in my liberal ass engineering firm offices! I'm of the FleshThorn school of carry when you aren't sure if you need it, just to be safe.

I carry. I have pulled it 3 times in life. I am still here.

Carry all the time except where and when illegal of course. Have Texas CHL and Utah CFP these two cover most states.

Interesting story...I think the funniest gun story I ever had was in my POV on my way home around 0200 one morning. I pulled to a red light in a less than favorable neighborhood and observed a tall "crack-head" type walking toward my car from the side walk. He walked up the driver's side toward my door. Seeing this and knowing where I was I had already broken leather on my Glock 27 and was pointing it at my door, kind of cradled in my lap. When he opened the door to either rob or car jack me I just dropped my left arm exposing my pistols business end. "Let me tell you what kind of bad day you're having..."

I proned him on the road, and since I am a youngin' in the technology age...I called my buddies who were working the road. He was whisked away to Anderson County's bed and breakfast, and ended up pleading guilty to some drug and firearm charges. He was too stupid to use the Hi-Point (ghetto fabulous) 9mm he had in his hoodie pocket. Maybe he should have looked at my cars specialty tag that says SC Law Enforcement Officer.
