Re: SF-86 (Security Clearance) Question
Secret?
No.
It may restrict you from certain duty assignments, however, it has been my experience that a failure to reveal information is far more detrimental, so always tell the truth.
If you fail to reveal information and later assume duties that require greater clearances, it will all come out anyway between them talking to your peers and or the polygraph.

Re: SF-86 (Security Clearance) Question
Stay clean, absolutely clean from here on out.
While any use is not good, social use in the past isn't necesarily a career stopper. The adjudicators are realistic, if social use at the age & place you state was a bar, there simply wouldn't be much of anyone left to handle our secrets. As Dan said, failure to disclose is much worse. The investigations for the higher clearances you'll need for the more interesting assignments that may come your way down the road are, or can be, incredibly intrusive and one of the first questions an investigator is likely to ask is "is this guy for real? He never even tried a toke??".

Re: SF-86 (Security Clearance) Question
What I just read is "I want to get what I want so badly I am going to lie."G.G wrote:A waiver for this is definitely not something I would want in my military record, if I were to put down my use of marijuana and experimentation with mushrooms on the SF-86 it would seem like this being on paper would result in me needing a waiver. Sorry for the abrupt response, I WANT THE OPTION 40 and want to make sure I have no hiccups in the process that would bar be from attaining it. Thank you for your time and help.
What if during the normal screening process for your clearance it becomes evident that you have lied? I mention this because I have seen it happen in 3-75!

Ranger Silverback, apology repealed. I realize that I shouldn't have even responded, since the men who have been there before already provided me the answer.
