I've dated a few growing up and really like their attitudes. They're quite fierce. Protective, demanding and loyal.

When the war kicked off in the Balkans for the umpteenth time in the early 90's, I remember all of my friends fathers leaving their jobs in Germany to head to war. The thought of watching it from Germany never crossed their minds. Kids grow up supporting that train of thought. Dad's going to be gone for a while killing fuckers who're trying to stick it to us. They also like to drink, watch soccer, MMA and can throw a mean BBQ.

Nomad, I must agree with you based upon my 7 months in Bosnia in '96. I split my CA Team up after I was there about a month. I gave my TM Sgt the Muslims to "bond with" and I spent as much of my time as I could with the Serbs. We were there right after the dayton peace accords in the summer of '96. There were still body parts in trees, in ditches, and brains and bone fragments on the walls of the school yards where mass executions took place. You could actually feel the evil in the air.

I found the Serbs to be a "no bullshit" kind of people, they either tolerate you as an outsider or kill your ass one way or another. I was home maybe a month before my phone rang and one of the Serb translators called me at the house and just wanted to say hi since he was in Charlotte......

And before anyone gets their panties in a wad about atrocities, every ethnic group where I was had engaged in some form of evil. The Muslims in my sector had a very powerful Public Affairs program in place funded by the Arab world. All they had to do was to take pix of a blown up mosque and funds poured into their coffers.
