Operation Honor Our Heroes

Post by Caruthers »

Please forward to others…Forwarded by John House,Texas Veterans Commission Director of Marketing & Training. FYI: anyone can participate.

As a means to fulfill the mission of Operation Honor Our Heroes, we will run one mile for every Texas service member killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

For every fallen hero there are eight wounded veterans and wounded warriors. We also run to honor them.

From May 17 – 25, 2009, we will run across Texas to honor our Texas fallen heroes and raise funds to help meet the unmet needs of wounded veterans and their families.

The formation of this organization was inspired by MSG Robert M. Horrigan who was killed in action in Al Qaim , Iraq on June 17, 2005 while serving his fifth and final tour. Robert volunteered for this final assignment even though he had already started the retirement process. He went to bring life and liberty to those who hadn’t had it in decades and to protect the shores and freedoms of America . It is in this spirit – of selfless devotion — and in celebration of his life and the lives of all fallen heroes that we founded Operation Honor Our Heroes, a non profit organization. Our goal is to meet the unmet needs of our wounded veterans and their families. Through our efforts to assist our wounded heroes, we strive to honor the sacrifice made by our fallen soldiers. They will never be forgotten.

We do not look upon Veterans as an interruption of our job.

They are the purpose of it.

We are not doing them a favor….they are doing us a favor by letting us assist them!
