Although they are not as consistently sent out nowadays, we still occasionally get fun facts of the day in our Routine Orders that are sent out every night to inform cadets of their duties for the next day. Huge snow storm for the past couple days, the base is slowly closing down one road at a time.

Fun Fact of the Day: The term "whole 9 yards" came from WWII fighter pilots in the South Pacific. When arming their airplanes on the ground, the .50 caliber machine gun ammo belts measured exactly 27 feet. If the pilots fired all their ammo at a target, it got the "whole 9 yards."
