See a lot of fairly recent pictures of hooahs doing this. I'm curious as to the rationale. I can see the benefits in the prone position. Personally I like my mags in the abdominal or mid/lower chest max. Up too high and I have to chickenwing myself when I am standing up to get a mag out.
Any thoughts from anyone who has gone with the mags up high route?

You must be able to carry like 50 mags then with extenders you had to have sewn in.BadMuther wrote:.Personally I like my mags in the abdominal or mid/lower chest max.

Re: Ammo pouches up high on vests???
I advocate lower on the gear. Reason why is because when you strip a mag (and drop/throw) your hand automatically goes to the bottom of the rib cage. That's where your reload should be. Economy of motion. I don't trust my life to a $10 mag release button - I strip the mag out. Both pistol and long gun.
I *think* that reason for higher mag pouch is the same reason for putting weight in the top of the ruck. Less strain, more mobility.
