Taking Chance

Post by JarHedSolja »

I'm pretty sure I read this article here but I've just been exposed to this movie trailer. It was the story of a Marine LtCol who brought home a young PFC Chance Phelps, who was killed in Iraq. It stars Kevin Bacon. Despite all the bullshit movies being made about the war like "Stop-Loss" and "Home of the Brave," I think this one is something we can be proud of. Here is the link to the trailer if you'd like to watch it.

Taking Chance

Post by ShotUp »

Not sure if anyone has posted or even heard about this yet. It's on HBO tonight at 8PM EST

Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl,a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming.

I'm not a tech guy so I'm not sure if this is possible, but if someone who's got HBO could burn a DVD of this as this airs, please contact me.

Much appreciated

I think this one should have been played on the big screen, not just on HBO.

I fucking had to miss it because of work. At least it's on a lot within the next month.

Sounds like it was good.

it's also supposed to be on demand, if you have HBO.

things have changed since then. now they are running charters out of Dover. so the casket had a flag draped the whole ride, the escort(s) goes into the charter with one or two caskets, and they depart.

I was sitting in the Dover AMC terminal for several days trying to get to Kuwait with some of our birds, while they played fiddle fuck with our C-5. in Jun 07, there were probably 2-3 going out a day that we saw. Honors were rendered impeccably every time. at least the AF got that part right.

X2. Not an HBO guy. Hell, not even a movie guy. I've got a cabinet full of Clint movies that I watch. But this is one that I'd like to see.

Seen this last night. It was a good movie and it would make any mans eyes get watery if they've ever lost a close friend or two. I'd recommend you watch it if you get the chance.

Don't have the words. It made me sad and proud all at the same time.
If you're able, see this one.

the thing that got me was that it was a military movie that didnt focus on wartime heroics, but of the aftermath that noone wants to see...noone ever sees in Hollywood
