Anyone here use makiwara in training? Like everything else, I think I tend to go a bit overboard with them. I'll go for several hours on one, thne feel like my body was in a car wreck for the next couple days. Specifically in my neck and shoulders. There's no doubt that it's toughening up my hands, but I'm wondering how much is ideal?

Makiwara boards
I don't have room in the dojo for a traditional floor mount. Instead, I have one on a plate that is mounted to the cinder block wall. I made some rubber washers out of a hose to put between the wall and the plate. I do have a 4 x 4 post sunk outside in the yard, wrapped with rope. I use both, but use more power strikes on the wall mount. Great for those bad days.
