Hungarian AK-47

I'm looking to buy one...anyone have one, or know where one is for sale? I looked at Gunsamerica and GunBroker.......saw a few on there, but thought that I would ask here....

I don't know too much about the Hungarian AKs, but got to this website. There is a section dealing with the Hungarian AKs. It is a great site and I highly reccomend it.

On this side of the pond, AK is commonly used to refer to the Kalishnikov design, even though his original design has been copied by countless manufacturers from many nations.

I will refer to my rifle as an AK in many casual conversations, even though it is certainly not a Russian Kalishnikov. It is the Romanian copy of his design, their SAR-1. If my esteemed collegue would have come out using the Hungarian nomenclature, I very well may have not had a clue to what he was referring. But by saying "Hungarian AK", I knew exactly what he was asking.

A Ford made in Turkey is still a Ford, an AK made in Hungary is still an AK, even if they call it something else. All those old communist countries have liscensed the right to make their Kalashnikovs from Russia, so they are still AKs, even with the changes that all countries invariably make in the base design. SO yeah, you can get Hungarian AKs.

I never updated this-bought a Hungarian AK off a friend-love it, great rifle.
