Crohn's Disease

Post by Quiet »

Recently my doctor has told me that i need to get a Diagnostic test done, due to my symptoms he certain that i have developed Crohn's Disease. I have downloaded the AR 40-501 Standards of medical Fitness, and this is all that i could find(copy and pasted from the form for easy access):

Chapter 3
Medical Fitness Standards for Retention and Separation, Including Retirement:
3–5. Abdominal and gastrointestinal defects and disease:
h. Crohn’s Disease/Ileitis, regional, except when responding well to treatment.

And

Chapter 4
Medical Fitness Standards For Flying Duty:
4–4. Abdomen and gastrointestinal system:
The causes for medical unfitness for flying duty Classes 1/1A/2/2F/3/4 are the causes listed in paragraph 2–3, plus the
following:
(3) History of functional bowel syndrome (irritable colon), megacolon, diverticulitis, diverticulosis with complications,
regional enteritis (Crohn’s disease), ulcerative colitis, or proctitis.

Does this mean that even if i have a form that responds well to treatment i am still screwed from the Airborne portion of Rangers?

There is no real hard information on it in the regs.

I have this desease, and was recently put on TDRL (med dishcarge)

problem is, the army doesn't have any real definates on it, so they tagged mine as "IBS"

right now i am dealing with the VA to get it fixed
