Introduction

Post by neverquit »

Hello Rangers,
My name is Dan and I am a 22- year old college student. I have been a frequent guest on this site and have finally decided to join. I plan on finishing up 1 more semester of college before enlisting in the Army and pursuing my dream of becoming a Ranger.

In the meantime I will continue to PT my ass off, read, absorb, and learn as much as I can from this site. It is an invaluable resource for anybody seeking to serve with the Regiment and I thank you for all the advice and assistance you give to those of us aspiring to join your ranks.
I will not give up and I will not fail.

I self-administered a PT test and this is where I stand as of last week:
Pushups (2mins.) – 72
Sit ups (2mins.) – 89
Pull ups (palms out) – 22
3 Mile Run – 18:30

I will continue to PT religiously and improve on these scores. I have recently joined up with the cross-country team at school and will be training with them to improve my running ability. I am also a fan of the outdoors and enjoy things like rock climbing and hiking.

Thank you all for your service to our country, you have my utmost respect and gratitude.

Respectfully,
Dan

Not bad PT scores.....wish I could still do 22 pullups. Oh well. Welcome to the site. If you're dead set on the Ranger option, don't settle for anything less. Chances are, your recruiter will try to sell you on something else. Good luck to you.

Welcome. Your interest in becoming an Army Ranger is appreciated and it will be up to you to turn that interest into reality. Be sure to read the ROE PM I have sent you and keep working on those push-ups. As has been pointed out, Army pull-ups are done with your palms facing you. For most people, they are easier than with the palms facing forward. Just be sure when you go down, you fully extend your arms into a dead hang position.

Welcome. Your PT scores are good but... Try doing a 2 mile as fast as you can and remember your test administrators will be strict.

Good luck.

Dan, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. You are doing all right, so far. You do need to get your 2 mile run time down -- no need to do anything exotic; just run, and then run some more. Read all the FAQs, as well as selected stickies and threads. Most of the questions you may have have been addressed, so the search feature is your friend. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the premier place to learn. We take great pride in the Rangers who have made ArmyRanger.com part of their life's journey. Never, never quit!
