Introduction: Joeboo

Post by Joeboo »

Howdy all,

Lets see, i've read through SOP here so let me see if I can get my info right.

I joined the Illinois Air National Guard 95Nov
Shipped for basic 95Dec
Graduated 95Feb
Shipped to Kessler AFB 333rd "Mad Ducks" TRS (I don't think this unit exists anymore) AIT 3c0x1-Computer Communications Systems Operation
Graduated 3c0 school 96May
Reported to 126th ARW Comm flight

Thats about it...the 126th WAS at O'Hare IAP but the BRAC commission closed it down and we were relocated to Scott AFB.

When the O'hare joint Air/Army Post at O'Hare was closed, I tried to transfer to a Guard Unit in my hometown of Springfield, but couldn't manage a slot, so I RTAP'ed 99June as an E-4.

Any other questions, just hollar.

RangerRon, and all other vets on here, I'd like to say thanks for your service as well! For those of you deployed, stay sharp, and Godspeed.

As far as what brought me here, I was looking up some info on that sleeze bag Jesse Macbeth and I ended up in your wannabe trophy room. I always assumed that everyone had always heard one or two jackasses popping off at the mouth about a bunch of fabricated bs, but I had no idea that some went to such great lengths to lie.

I was especially disappointed to see that from past/present vets....civilians I can digest a bit easier as they may have no context for what they are abusing, can't say the same for the vets.

Anyhow after reading some of the threads in various sections of the site I really appriciated the esprit decor here, and thought I would be more likely to meet good folk here than not, so I signed up.

I guess "esprit decor" is when you decorate a room with lots of patriotic posters and flags? We knew what you meant, though. Welcome aboard.

Doh! Spell checker where for art my crutch?!

Thanks Rangers all for the warm reception. I was trying to find this old comic that this site reminded me of that I am sure some of you have seen. I'll try and describe it as I'm sure anyone that has seen it will remember it.

Its a four pane strip, in the top left there is a picture of an army soldier standing in pouring rain saying, "Man, this sucks". The next pane to the right showed an airborne trooper w/ a massive ruck trudging in the rain uphill saying, "I like the way this sucks". The bottom left pane is a Ranger, neck deep in water with a dead snake in his mouth saying, "I wish this sucked some more!". Finally the bottom right pane is an Airman sitting in an easy chair remote control in hand, looking out the window observing the pouring rain thinking to himself, "Man, it must suck out there".

I got to thinking about that comic strip after applying for my login as it was the only piece of non-official material that hung in the comm vault a.k.a 'the tomb' that I spent the bulk of my time in.
