Introduction

Post by seabrmur000 »

Hi, my name is Murray. I'm 17 years old and fresh out of high school. I'm aspiring to be a Ranger.

I'm enlisting shortly after turning 18 (late June) and am hoping to find help on this site on conditioning myself for the army and making sure that my enlistment goes as smoothly as possible. Any advice (or criticism) would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome and congratulations on completing HS.

Now stop thanking us for welcoming you and go and read the Q&As and all of the stickys before posting again.

Once you have completed this task tell us more about yourself (your intro sucks) and tell us why you want to be a Ranger.

I have wanted to be a Ranger since I was a freshman in highschool. One of my buddies was going for it at the time and I would do PT with him and the recruiters once a week. I started to learn more about the Rangers and their role in military operations and was really interested. I got lazy though and slacked off. I stopped going to PT and lost interest in the army.

Now 3 years later I have come to the conclusion that I do not want to be surrounded by pot heads and people who are going nowhere. I have goals in my life and I want to reach them.

I have started the enlistment process (practice asvab and am about to take the full one on the 26th). I turn eighteen on June 25th and am only going to enlist if I can get option 40 on my contract. Ive been talking this over with my recruiter and hes going to let me know what he can. I have family in the UK that I need to visit before I go into the Army, but after that if option 40 is available for me I will sign up straight away. If not I am prepared to wait however long it takes, just more time for me to train my ass off.

On the fitness side of things I am in poor physical condition. I am doing daily push ups, sit ups, pull ups, flutter kicks, and running. I hike a fair bit as well.

Any advice on getting myself in shape would be appreciated ( but I know how to use search).

Murray.
