Your quote here Erin. "Special Ops facinates me. I like to learn and I look forward to learning more about the Rangers."
So what are you doing here? Looking to move down to GA? Why do Rangers fascinate you? Really not trying to bust your chops but why not SF since you say your in Bragg. Welcome to the site.

Ranger IDon'tCare,

Valid questions all.

My interest about the Rangers was picqued by a book I picked up by chance last summer called "This Man's Army" by Andrew Exum. Exum's experiences as a Ranger with the 10th Mtn. Div. in Afghanistan.

I now have a few friends who are Rangers, and SF as well. It's the mental and physical toughness, that interest me. And the Warrior Ethos of the Rangers. What can I learn about leadership and apply to myself personally from elite Warriors, such as Rangers?

I also like to be able to converse with my friends without having to ask "what?" every other word. And just understand them a little better.

So tell us what's plan for 2007-2008 in the MWR department.

BTW, Welcome to our playground.

Thanks for the reply. There are better books out there to read then that one. Try reading a book by a real Ranger. Not just a tab wearer.

Ranger IDon'tCare,

That book was just a starting point. Looks like I have some shelf cruising at Barnes and Noble to do. What books would you, or other Rangers, recommend?

Thank you for any suggestions.

The book, "The Road to Unafraid," by Chaplain (CPT) Jeff Struecker is a quick and easy read. "Black Haulk Down," is becoming a clasic. "Charlie Rangers" another and of course, "Band of Brothers."

There are many others but this will get you started.

Thank you again,

Ranger Capellanus,

I finished The Road to Unafraid the other day. It was a very good read, and as you said easy, not to mention interesting. I'm going to send it to my cousin Charlie. He is very interested in the military. I think he'll find it very interesting from both the Ranger and the Christian soldier standpoints.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'm working on Charlie Rangers now.

I wish some of our DEPS would have the drive you have in trying to understand our community. Charlie Rangers is much different type of book but it will help you understand some of our more mature Veterans in our community.

That would be a good book to read. So would "The Battle of Mogadishu"
