Why the top three? Aren't all of his movies the same just with a different set?

My all time favoreite is "She wore a yellow ribbon"

and a real old one where the Duke sang throughouit the movie (circa 1934). Of course, Robert Osborne of TMC said the Duke's voice was dubbed over which would explain why he never sang in any more of his movies.

I just saw two westerns by the Duke, 1st was '39 next was '40 & I remember thinking he looked fatter in '39 than in '40 by a good 30+pounds so he must have slimmed down. guess it was all them beans.

You all know why they only put two hundred and thirty nine beans in each can. If they put in one extra bean in each can, the beans would be too farty.

Most movies with the Duke are my favorit!

Does anyone remember "The Sands of Iwo Jima"? I think that was the name. Then there was "Hellcats" or some thing like that in which he was a navy pilot in WWII.

What about "Yellow Ribon"? Old Cpt Nathan Britles...

All his movie are great!

For me True Grit, Rooster Cogburn & the Green Berets (the Shootist a close tie for third).

But my favorite quote was from True Grit:

Ned Pepper: What's your intention? Do you think one on four is a dogfall?

Rooster Cogburn: I mean to kill you in one minute, Ned. Or see you hanged in Fort Smith at Judge Parker's convenience. Which'll it be?

Ned Pepper: I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man.

Rooster Cogburn: Fill your hands, you son of a bitch!
