Back to the Box!

Post by 31B_Soldier »

As most of you know I just returned from a tour over there. Well, I dont know about you fine gentlemen, term used loosely of course, but I loved it over there, less of the dog and pony bs, and its what I enlisted to do.

I got an oppurtunity recently, our sister company in our battalion deploys very soon, they needed a driver, im it. So I go back...well obviously I cant say the date but ill just say my parents dont believe I got enough time stateside before another tour :)

Wish me luck, and lets hope this company has half the luck that my last one had.

My observation was that bad things happen the first 30 days or the last 30 days of a combat tour. Once you pass the initial period, if you keep extending your DEROS, you won't get hurt -- cause you never get to the last 30 days.

Don't leave your parents blaming the wrong people for you deploying again.

Tell them that you volunteered and that you like deploying.

My father is career Navy, (and by career I mean going on 26 years)moms been with him since day 1, and I made it perfectly clear I wanted to, and then did, volunteer. They might not like their only child going back to war, but the understand the necessity of it, and, Thank God, my last name AINT Sheehan!
