Introduction
Hello All,
My name is Brandon, I'm 20 and finishing up my 2nd year in college at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I signed an 18X contract this January and am scheduled to go into basic on August 17th.
Reasons for me joining the Army and signing the 18X contract are completely different. I joined the Army so I could give something back to this great country and protect my families, friends, and everyone's freedoms. I signed the 18X contract because I want adventures, like guns, and everything I have read, seen, and heard about it interests me absolutely.
I am sincere when I say that I have upmost respect for those that have served in the past, are currently server, and will serve in the future. It really hit me when my Dad's friends actually thanked me for my decision to join the Army and having them tell me it meant a lot to them. For me, it put a whole new perspective on life.
I know Basic, Airborne, and SFAS will not be easy... but I am determined to make it through. SF is a life dream of mine so that makes it a little easier too, I suppose.
I know I didn't sign a Ranger contract, but I hope that's ok.

Welcome Brandon.
While it is apparently no longer P.C. to congratulate and thank you for the decisions you've made, I will go ahead and do it anyways.
As you know, the road you have chosen is tough. Many are called and few are chosen. I for one wish you the best of opportunities and hope the best for you.

My advice to you is you might want to give FM 21-20 a read. It's kind of a self help book.

Gun Safety Tip #6. When unholstering your weapon it's customary to say "Excuse me while I whip this out "
