Let's not forget you always carry extra batteries as well. Plus the usual load. Of curse, back in the day, it was 13E and not 13F. But then the Army modernized.

I don't recall having to smell anything as a rule. And sometimes a lack of a sense of smell can be a blessing. Like when you're packed into a truck with 30-60 guys who haven't showered for a week or two.

The lack of smell could be extremely dangerous, in a darkened room with a Rangerette.

You best get some type of multi-meter thingamajig that can sniff poo-nanny and give you a green light dude.
