I never had the opportunity to make the choice, as I was forced to leave for medical dissabilities.

It seems to me that most soldiers in the states serve one term then get out of the military, whether it be a 2,3,4 year term or whatnot. I dont see alot of guys who stayed in the military for a longer period of time, especially NCO's.. just wondering why that is?? I get the general idea that you serve a term, especially nco's, then get out of the army and find a civy job such as a police officer. (not that there is anything wrong with that) Is there any reason to this.. do guys tend to not want to make a further career out of the army/rangers.. as you get older can you become an officer if the job become to physically demanding or the money is not enough to support a family anymore? not trying to sound like a prick here if i have, just i dont see many nco's staying in the army/military after there term is up?? is it really hard for someone already in the military currently serving to change their MOS, or even their unit??? for instance moving from an airborne unit to the 75th rangers? thanks in advance.

A few years ago some friends and I went to our Friday night hangout which just happened to be the local fort next to our beloved  Veterans Administration Clinic. A hinnie beer was selling here for $1.75 and almost $5 in a regular bar. Well we got to speak with several E-6's and E-7's. They informed us that since the military relies on enlistment and no longer relies on the draft. If a 6 or a 7 did not increase a grade during their enlistment they were asked by the military to leave. Proficiency Reports or something like that. The other is what Ranger Luna referred to, injuries take tolls. Dangers exist everyday doing normal things.

How about focusing on maybe one to two questions per post instead of a rambling, gambling hard to read never ending paragraph that goes on forever.

Maybe one or two ideas per paragraph would be good too, at least easier to understand what you're getting at. For the record, I didn't even read your drivel as it was incomprehensible.

Maybe try decaf for a while too.

Some guys have other goals in mind and the military was their jump start. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Spitfire,
Some stay some go. The thing you fail to notice is the communication between past and present Rangers. Unlike other communities we stick together long after what is normally expected. We share a bond that can't be overcome by time or distance. Once a Ranger always a Ranger!
