intro
I served in stateside support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I was assigned to the 96th Comm Squadron from Dyess AFb from 1992- to mid 1993. I was Honorably Discharged for medical circumstances.
I worked in the comm center ( for those that dont know where base message traffic comes through.. all messages to the base.. as well as the SOC's operator)
I was serving and in fact took the call when we lost a B1B in South Texas ( this information is not classified)
I was involved for almost 4 years prior to my service with a member of the SOG stationed at Hurlburt Field..
I married a person who claimed to be a Ranger several years later ( dont know and have some doubts about the truth on that one.. i do know that he served in the army and that he was recalled to duty several times , was honorably discharged etc.. as he goes to the VA.. and recieved occassional army stuff for him)
Anyway, I found this site, while searching for information regarding my deceased step father.. I was seeking information regarding his service.. he was not special forces of anytype to my knowledge.. but he was in the army for at least part of korea and vietnam. He was a helicopter pilot.. and i started reading.. so rather than read quietly and not make myself know, tis safer to simply say who I am and lay it on the line.
I went through basic at Lackland, tech school at Keesler AFB... originally assigned to SAC command but orders were ammended when I got married in tech school and i got pulled to his duty station... the armpit of texas.. sorry if any of you love abilene..

Ranger Bill,
No offense taken. I felt that I had explained it quite adequately. I happened upon the site while searching for army records, information etc about my late stepfather. I began reading. I am former military. I support all branches and have friends that either have served or currently serve in every branch to include the Coast Guard. I have the utmost respect for Rangers. My half-brother was Airborne, was invited to RIp, went through RIP and did not make it through/choose, not sure which, he did not much talk about it.
I actually had not intended to make any more post other than the introduction. I just did not feel it was appropriate to sit and read a site and read about people and their lives without making myself known.
I meant no harm, nor do I want or need anything from this site. I simply introduced myself since I was reading many of the post.
Ranger Bill I apologize if I have violated some unspoken rule or written rule. I read the rules carefully before posting. It was my understanding that members or veterans of other military branches were welcome as long as we agreed to show proper respect to Rangers, which they/you do deserve.
Sincerly
Nicole
