Question about Eczema
Hello, this is student_us.
I have had mild eczema in the past, and I just found out that eczema sufferers should not receive the smallpox vaccine, and this can get in the way of an Option 40 contract. I searched the board and found a thread about eczema, but there wasn't much info. What should I do about this? If SFC Hit_it or others have answers, I would greatly appreciate them. Thank you.

Eczema can be a medical disqualifier... Only MEPS Medical doctor can say for sure, but you are correct on the assumption of small pox interaction. Everyone reacts differently to vacinnes, I reccomend you talk to your personal Doctor and get a feel from what he says. If he feels it's no longer an issue, have him write a quick statement why it isn't. The MEPS doctor will make the final determination, but the letter will help. If you choose not to disclose it..and the recruiter(not saying he will) says don't say anything and you get the vaccine, you might be toast!

You just won't shut the fuck up will youstudent_us wrote:Yeah, the vaccine puts you at high risk for complications. Apparently, in the past when people had eczema, the virus could spread to the eczema patches and infect them. Usually the reaction would heal, but it could be fatal in rare cases.
