I had never heard it till I got on this bullshit board. But, as time went on it dawned on me with the help of one of our 1st Batt warriors, it was an offhanded compliment. Being sitused in Savannah, with beaches and sunshine 9-10 months a year, women preferred the bronzed hard bodies of the 1st Batt warriors over the pasty pale rump Rangers of 2nd Batt. While 3rd had plenty of sun, they had only a limited exposure to real women who weighed less than 385 lbs....guess being called a leg shaver is fine. Never shaved mine personally but I think Id rather be bronzed, ripped and shaved than pale, pasty, and chasing little boys in Seattle or well tanned and bedding a bovine.
Praise the lord! :D

Ok Great! Ranger 1/75 now you got all the fossils (abell, tater nuts, RGR Mac, etc) coming out of the woodwork trying to explain what a leg shaver is. Why don't you all talk about how hard it used to be (steel pots etc... ). by the way....Welcome!

I know some of the names. Barno was my CO, Acebes was my 1st SGT. Moore was buddies with my platoon sergeant SSG Noble and my Squad Ldr Sgt Jewell. Guzman I remember. Man, it seems like it so long ago.
You're right, I have know idea what they mean by leg shavers.
Should you think you are old....Acebe's was a SSG. when I was in 1st Batt. Think he went on to become a CSM of Fort Benning or the Infantry School. Think I was an E-7 and was at Benning for some bullshit conference. Acebe's was as I recall, smoked more than Don Purdy did which was considerable. I saw him walking up and recognised his Philipino ass at 100 meters. (He was looking for a Tab to bum a smoke from) I liked him...solid soldier. Always wondered how those little gimpy ass legs held him up though.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

The road goes on forever and the party never ends.
I remember the planoans of savannah...AKA 1st Bn Aggressors. That was 3rd's 1st ARTEP ... That was a nasty night jump...Of course I was at Sabre Hall sipping coffee and ensuring everything in the TAC was running smoothly. The jump back into Lawson AAF was a welcomed relief after being feed those 1st Bn Hamburgers they gave us on the bird (must of had epicat syrup in them) cause it was a rough ride back.
1st Bn. JumpMasters worked w/ 3rd on that ARTEP, we filled the air land safety slots so all boots could be on the ground. I worked the door w/ Doug Greenway. As third rigged out at Saber Hall AO we walked around the chalks, it was a re-union of sorts. I think that was my last Airborne Op.
