It started out to be a 10 mile Bn run led by the BC, when we returned to the Barracks at the end of the 10 miles we went right on by and made a little 3 mile addition. That was in 3rd Bn in '88 or '89.
There's a few more members here that would remember that one!

Did 15 miles once. A shitheel private in the squad didn't get the PTs done right, and they were still a little wet. My SL, a fucking PT GOD, who ran his first marathon at something like 8 yo (no shit) took us for a 12 mile run as incentive to NEVER fuck up the PTs again. At the 12 mile turn around pt, he asked how we were doing. Of course, we all said we were good. He said "Good. We're doing 15." Kept running until we got to Savannah mall, then turned around and ran all the way back.
Later in the day my SL walks up and asks how I am feeling. I tell him that I am good but am sore as I have ever been in my life. He says "Don't feel bad. I lost three toenails on that run myself." This coming from a man who once stayed late to have a few beers with the boys, called his wife to come pick him up, and when she got him home he ran the 12+miles back to the barracks to sober up, pick up his car, and drive it back home.

Many times on the 12 mile HAAF perimeter run. 13 miles a couple of times in the 11th Armored Cav Fulda half marathon. The half marathon was a suck because it was pretty hilly, you had to run in formation, and also had the damn guidon.

In AIT no less, we did 9 miles in 63 minutes, may have done longer than that later. As long as I stayed around a 7 min mile the distance didn’t really matter, what killed me was sprinting, the worst I can ever remember is a 1 mile sprint with Sgt Fxxx(medic type), no warm up , nothing, just a follow me and don’t fall out. Was about a 5:20 mile but that stands out as one of the worst, I fucking hate sprints.

The Darkside was one of my favorite runs in Italy. My second favorite was ruckmarching the goat trail.Alpha Sharks wrote:If any of you Ranger have ever been stationed in Italy. The " Darkside" of Mount Baraco. 12 to 10 miles depending on what route you took. My SL had us run it every Thursady morning. The smog in Italy made you suck ass.

Longest Army run was 18miles in boots because I left my running shoes at home, but that was training with my BRC partner. Longest formation run was a half-marathon on HAAF(13.5) Many of those stupid mandatory 5/10/12 mile runs and rucks. Longest ruck was the 40 mile long walk.
