Introduction.
Hello Rangers,
My name is Jordan. I'm 19 years old, and until recently, studied philosophy at St. John's College in Annapolis, MD. I decided to quit school and enlist in the Army because I wanted to be doing something 'real', and something I could respect. I told my Army recruiter that I wanted to jump out of airplanes and do crazy stuff. He says "OK, I can take you down to MEPS on Saturday." I went to MEPS, scored a 99 on the ASVAB and passed the physicals without any problem. When the career counselor came for me, I figured I'd have to argue and negotiate with him for a while to get something I wanted, like Airborne Infantry. So he says "Here, I've got your contract ready to go."
He showed it to me:
MOS 11x
Option 40 (US Army Airborne Ranger)
Option 70 (Statement of Intent for Special Forces Selection)
Enlisment Bonus 20000
Needless to say, I was pretty surprised. What's some skinny ass college dropout (6'3", 153 lb. chainsmoker) doing with a Ranger contract? Anyway, I'm really excited about the chance to become a Ranger. I figure if the Army wants to give me a chance to be the best, I'll take them up on it. I ship to Benning for OSUT January 12.

Welcome & Good Luck.
Since you like to smoke there will plenty of it at R.I.P.
You might think of giving them up before you go..................

Put down the smokes, and go get copious amounts of pasta and eat til you puke. Then do it again, every day. Then start getting your lanky ass to the gym.
Good luck to you and welcome.

Best of luck to you, young man.
Heed well what these Rangers tell you.
Besides the physical training and dropping the smokes, try sitting out all night in a 40 degree downpour, preferably without raingear. If you still feel motivated, try it a few more times without food or sleep.
Even if you don't go Ranger, learn how to be cold, wet, and miserable.
Builds character.

And it beats the shit out of playing croquet with the Middies at the Naval Academy. Then when you go back to college, you will finally be able to view the great books with some perspective -- rather than regurgitate what some other faggot said 250 years later.

Strangely enough, Ive seen bean pole chain smokers actually make it on sheer guts and determination. Least, you won't lose much weight in the process. Have a goodun.
