headed to MEPs Oct. 22

Post by No1Raider »

I took the asvab last week and scored a 91...I just faxed my Security questionnaire to my recruiter...He scheduled me for MEPs on the 22nd...I'm going for a 13F/opt. 40/SLRP...My question is should I wait till the beginning of the next month to go to MEPs so I'd have a better chance of getting the job and options I want? I'm going to be on the Delayed Entry Program till I graduate college so will that factor into my job placement?

I recommend you hedge your bets and go when appointed and since you know that you will likely be pressured to settle due end of month quotas you can walk out and come back at the start of the month, however, they may just fuck up and give it to you the first time out.
You have obviously been reading the pertinent forums and you can go armed with a certain amount of knowledge...comfy feeling, isn't it?

Off you go and good luck.

As I stated before, I am going to be on DEP for a little under a year...I was talking with my recruiter today and he was telling me that the job liasons cannot look forward a year in advance and reserve a spot...He told me that I would be able to lock in my job (13F) and get my SLRP, but I would have to wait a couple of months for the opt40...Is there truth to this?? I go in on the 22nd and I want to know if I should sign the DEP contract without opt40 on it so I can secure the SLRP...I know that the contract that is set in stone is the contract I sign on the day that I'm shipping but I was wondering if I should hold out on signing this DEP contract.

I went to MEPS today and recieved some discouraging news...basically they told me that they give option 40-priority to the 11X and the only way I would be able to get into the Regiment w/ 13F would be thru a liason by way of my unit or at jump school...They kept at me with a 18X contract (and I am definately considering it) but I didn't want to sign anything other than 13F/opt40 today...I want to sign a contract on my terms and I don't know enough about the Special Forces program yet so I will research more on this site and others before I make a decision.

I know they weren't just jerking me around either because they went and got the Battalion Commander a former Special Ops...I mean this guy was tabbed out Pathfinder, Ranger, AA, ABN, SPECIAL FORCES... He even got on the phone with the guy from ROC and I heard it from the man's mouth, he hasn't ever given out a 13F/opt40 and that all the opt40s go to the 11X...he also called on a friend of his who is artillary and asked how 13Foxes get into Ranger Batts. and that is where he go that liason fact...

So thats where I sit...just giving an update.

Come to think of it, I have never seen it either.

Keep trying, but since he already called the ROC to get it loaded, it could really just not be available.

At that point, the decision becomes whether or not you want the Regiment over the MOS.

Understand?
