Ranger Kilted Heathen,
I apologize. You made yourself very clear. I told ggamecrazy the same advice you had given me and told him to ask me if he had any questions and that he and I would work through the process together. I stupidly on my part assumed that he already understood the rules of the forum and the proper respect to be shown to Rangers. That was a lapse on my part and laziness to not take the time to make sure he understood and I apologize. It will not happen again. I have great appreciation for your time and effort put into helping me so far.
Apologies also to ggamecrazy for not giving you more thorough advice on how the whole forum works - I let you down there. PM inbound.
Ranger Kilted Heathen, Here is my essay on Laszlo Rabel. Thanks for the opportunity to learn about an amazing Ranger. Hope everyone else finds it as inspiring as I did...

Ranger Lazio Rabel was born in Budapest, Hungary on September 21, 1939. He later immigrated to the United States where he made his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ranger Lazlo soon joined the United States Army and made the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ranger Lazlo began his tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam on June 6, 1966. He was a member of the 74th Infantry Detachment (Long Range Patrol) of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. While in Vietnam, Ranger Laszlo was stationed in the Dinh Province. On November 13, 1968 Ranger Laszlo was leading Team Delta while they were forming a defensive perimeter while on a reconnaissance mission of enemy trail networks. At 1000 hours a member of Team Delta heard enemy movement towards the front. Ranger Lazlo and a fellow Team member were preparing to clear the area when an enemy threw a grenade at them. The grenade landed in the middle of the perimeter that the team had set up. With no time for his comrades to move to safety, Ranger Lazlo did the only thing possible to save them. Without thought to himself, Ranger Lazlo courageously threw himself across the grenade. If he had taken time to worry or fear the consequences he would not have been able to save his team. However, Ranger Lazlo showed incredible bravery and disregard for his own life and acted to save his fellow soldiers. His body took the impact of the grenade’s explosion killing him, but saved the lives of all of his fellow soldiers. For his ‘bravery and gallantry at the highest traditions of military service’, Ranger Rabel was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. His body was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Section 52, Grave 1326. His name can be found on the Vietnam Wall at Panel 39W – Line 62. He was deservedly inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in Fort Benning, Georgia along with 20 other Rangers in the first class to be inducted in 1992.
Ranger Lazio Rabel is a prime example of the highest ideals of the military. He showed extraordinary courage and his disregard for his own life when it came to saving his brothers in arms and is an outstanding example to all, both military and civilian. It is a level of sacrifice that few will ever have to make, but he is a tribute to all Rangers. His deeds are a prime example of every aspect of the Ranger Creed in action…

R - His actions certainly upheld the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corp of the Ranger Regiment. There are few acts that could better show the outstanding attitudes and bravery of Rangers.
A - He moved farther, faster, and fought harder than any other soldier. Few would ever be expected to show such bravery, but when the situation arose, Ranger Rabel immediately acted without a moments thought.
N - Ranger Rabel certainly did not fail his comrades. He gave the greatest sacrifice to save their lives. One cannot give more than that. That is one-hundred-percent and then some.
G - He certainly gallantly showed the world that he was a specially selected and well-trained soldier. It is hard to envision a better soldier than one who will react without a thought to save his comrade’s lives.
E – Ranger Rabel met the best the enemies of America had to give and showed them a true example of American grit and heroism. He gave everything he had and did not give up and surrender no matter how hard the situation. He did not let the enemies harm his comrades. Far from embarrassing his country, Ranger Rabel was a great example of the best that the United States has to offer.
R – I can think of few situations where one can show greater intestinal fortitude than to throw himself over a grenade to save his fellow soldiers.

Ranger Laszlo Rabel is a perfect example to me of all that I understand Rangers to stand for. He was brave beyond a degree that I can imagine any person being. When it came to the most important moment in his life, his first thought was of others rather than himself. With a group of men that have that kind of attitude, the enemies of the United States are right to worry. Men who will act without hesitation in the most difficult and terrifying of situations. Men who will not back down – no matter what the situation and regardless of the cost to themselves. Men who are trained to perfection and when called upon to perform as they were supposed to. These are some of the ideals that I believe stand behind the Rangers. That is why they train so hard and why only a few make it. When these situations arise, these are the kind of men that need to be there and these are the kind of men that can make a difference.
As an immigrant to the United States, I take particular note of Ranger Rabel’s bravery. It shows me that an immigrant can come in and show as great bravery and usefulness to the United States Army as someone who has lived in the United States for their entire life. Ranger Laszlo Rabel is a tribute to immigrants. We particularly should be proud of him. He is a great man for us to be able to show to others as an example of what we are capable of and what we can be willing to do and he is a great example to us of what we should be willing to sacrifice and what a difference we can make in this country and to those around us.
It is an honor to live in a country where people like this have given their lives for us and it is an honor to be given the chance to serve in a military where soldiers like Ranger Rabel have set the standards of what we should be willing to do. Hopefully all who hear about him will take something from the story and though they will hopefully never be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he was, they should live life with the same attitude and bravery and look out for others while always giving the best they can. I think it would make Ranger Laszlo Rabel proud to know that he had influenced people that way.

That was a bit of allright O'doherty.
Rabel Hall is named after him, that's where the Ranger Training BN conducts Reconnaisance Surveillance Leaders Course.
That's where the Army will send you to become a master of the craft.
Ranger qualification is a requirement to attend, citizenship is not.
Why?
Because you don't have to be a citizen to be assigned to a LRS unit.(loop hole!)
Hopefully, this won't be an issue for you and your new pal gamecrazy because if you'll LISTEN your shit will taken care of.
If you for some reason get bogged down in the paper-drill (believe me it can happen) you at least can still chart your career progress and negotiate your way into the best specialised small-units in the Army outside the Ranger Regiment.
Gamecrazy, quit grovelling and knock out fifty and one for Ranger Rabel, his ghost is watching over both of you.
By the way, you're confusing the N400 with the N426 get straight on that.
O'doherty, throw your body over a live INS document and help him out.

Gamecrazy, you owe your Cockney buddy big-time.
His immediate action just saved your ass.

Carry on.

ggamecrazy,

Ranger Silverback isn't kidding. In a recent Communique Ex Cathedra, Pope Benedict XVI stated unequivocally that legs will not only be denied access to Heaven, they will be condemned to Dante's Ninth Level of Hell which is populated by the likes of Benedict Arnold, Judas Iscariot, and the Vichy French. If you have any regard at all for your Eternal Soul you will do whatever is necessary to avoid this unspeakable fate.
