Introduction

Post by JUL21DEP »

Hello, my name is Trevor. I am 24 years old, have nearly completed college, and work as a Facility Manager for my University's Rec Center.

I enlisted in the Army on June 01 as a 19D. I did not receive option 40, but I did receive the Airborne option, and I will volunteer for RIP at Airborne. I leave for OSUT on July 21, 2005. In the meantime I plan on keeping my mouth shut and reading everything on the boards.

Welcome to the site. You should have waited for that Option 40. It's gonna be kinda tough now. Probably impossible to get the chance to try until you get lucky with a transfer request or at reup. It's gonna be a few years now.

Welcome.

At least you got one part right on your contract.

Good luck with the other.

Are you telling me that Recruiters are still telling that volunteer for RIP after ABN School lie or you have heard rumors and are assuming that?

Actually Junior would have to reenlist and change his MOS, which means he will have to serve his contract as a 19D (calvary Scout). Now there are expanded opportunities for these guys to be employed outside of the Tanker world. The Recon Surveillance and Target Aquisition (RSTA) units in the new Units of Action (UA). Additionally I forsee an oportunity for those that are assigned to RSTA units to receive "Infantry type training opportunities" like Ranger, Pathfinder, etc...

SB, I am in the RSTA at Drum. It is a CAV unit. I remeber when LRSD used to be CAV. Next time I get to Benning, we can chat about it over some brews. Since Cliff is an O know he can buy.
