Same exact thing happened to me with my Dad. only I woke up with him standing over me saying "old age and treachery will beat youth and vigor everytime".RangerStew wrote:One evening during my senior year of high school, I was laying on the couch after getting back from working out (lifting, wrestling, then running home). My dad runs over to me and pulls me by the leg off the couch and then we start wrestling. He just about has me pinned and then he grabs my head and starts pounding it into the hard wood floor. Knowing I am completely screwed, I gave up and started yelling "MOM!!!" My Dad is laughing at this point. I gave up. Even though we thought it was funny, it still showed me not to mess with Dad.

My dad and I had a few rounds in the past. One lighter note, when I was 17 he really got pissed. It was New Years Eve and snowing like hell. It was like 10 to 15 degrees out and he kicked me out of the house. I was wearing a T-shirt jeans and sneakers.RangerStew wrote:One evening during my senior year of high school, I was laying on the couch after getting back from working out (lifting, wrestling, then running home). My mom after hours of crying convinced him to let me in at 04:00. I had no place to go and basically froze my ass of. I should have realized then that I was bound to end up in a winter Ranger class 5 years later.
Thanks dad for the training.

I have 1 daughter- 3 years old, born 12 weeks premature, 2 lbs 8 oz, made me die twice and go blind, had health issues forever, etc. etc. She has 2 older brothers and 1 younger that she beats the living hell out of on a daily basis. She has motivation and dedication down to a fine art. It is pure poetry when her older brother picks on her and she punches him smooth in the gut or groin or hits him with the junior-sized golf club- her weapon of choice. It's the little princesses you have to watch out for. :)

My Dad abd I went fist to cuff when I was 16. I called him out and he knocked me out. Kinda strange. After that day I had a whole lot more respect for him and he towrds I. Funny how those things can happen. Now things are different, we joke around and his favorite saying is,"As long as they make 2x4's you won't be able to take me."
It's all good.

Ranger Sobersides,
Mom may be okay - not that knowing hand to hand isn't useful. My three sons figured out that mom's weren't to be messed with when they were pretty young.
I was fixing dinner one day when they came running through the kitchen, round and round the work island shooting each other with cap guns. When I decided it was enough and chased them out, the middle son took aim and said "Bang, you're dead!"
I told him "Oh good! Now you can finish cooking dinner! I'll just go lay down on the floor until it's done..." and went and streached out on the carpet. Well, the medics came pretty quick and fixed me up and I never got shot again. :)

my almost 10 year old step-daughter Kayley.
I've known her since she was 2, and she is seriously the sweetheart of the family. Good kid, honor roll at school, not violent. She's had to learn to defend herself.
My 2nd, is Adriana.
She is 6 and was born 7 weeks premature.
Something about beign born under those circumstances does something to them.
Everybody I've ever talked to with a pre-mature kid says they make up for their initial weakness tenfold.
She did.
Rambunctious.
She was pretty mean, and still can be, but she has "girled" down a little.
Then Josh my 4 year old.
he was born on his due date, 10 lbs 2 oz and is 100% boy.
He has random acts of aggresion, wants to check out my weapons when i have them out, plays with his cap gun (wore it out in 2 weeks), beats me with a ball bat, and plays with his junk much to his mom's dismay.
Gotta love 'em
