Long, long ago...in a land far away.........

Post by Slowpoke »

Nov. 11, 1966.....Butch Brune and I were set up on left flank on a trail in War zone D. It occurred to me that it was Veterans Day. I leaned over and whispered in his ear, "It's Veterans Day, are we Veterans now?" He whispered back, "What the fucks wrong with you Cole? Why would you care about shit like that?"

I'll be thinking about you Brothers...and all the rest of the Veterans! And I too, will lift a glass of my favorite Irish Libation and light up a cigar and remember......and try not to do it with a tear in my eye.
I never wore a cape, but I still have my dog tags.

Amen Brother. Just walked in from a double shift today and I'm raising a glass for all of those that are here and all of those that aren't.
