I was at his 1969 Cu Chi show. They choppered us in from the Cambodian border, we were so late getting in we did not have time to turn in our weapons or get cleaned up. They made us stand around the stage; tough duty.

One of my families Christmas traditions, when I was growing up was to watch the Bob Hope Christmas Special. They were always great. I always wanted to see the men in the crowds, they were the men I wanted to be like. Thanks for posting.

I was told by a USAF officer that Bob Hope never stayed overnight in VN. Anyone verify this?

From the attached article:

"After the show, the group moved to Saigon, where the dire warnings of danger literally exploded into reality. Hope and most of the performers stayed at the Caravelle Hotel, while Brown and members of the band stayed at the Continental Palace. Both were close to the Brinks Hotel, which served as a bachelor officers quarters for the Americans. "

Christmas 1965, I was in the 3d Field Hospital, in Saigon. The Bob Hope show visited the hospital. Phyllis Diller visited my ward. That's the kind of luck I have.
