Here is some more bad-assity. The very first medic to be awarded the MOH. Until him medics were only given DSC. His game was so epic they had no choice but to give it to him.

Oh yeah.... Bad ass motherfucker was conscientious objector too. Only thing he carried with him into combat was his aidbag, with a big bullseye painted on his helmet. Talk about having cast iron balls!..

Harry Truman commanded a FA battery in WWI. told several men who earned the MH; that if he did not have the MH, he would like to have the CIB or the CMB.

Malarkey served more consecutive time on the front lines than any other member of Easy Company.

Time to watch the series again...
SSG Guarnere is still alive and kicking in the Philadelphia area and was still active in Veteran's circles. I met him about a year or so ago, and had the honor of him breaking my balls about being a "glider fairy" instead of a real Paratrooper. (I was wearing a 327th Infantry shirt, they were glider guys during WW2 for those that don't know.)
On a related note, I also had the honor of attending Maj. Winter's memorial service after his passing as well.

As far as I'm concerned, you can stop posting any more of these. He wins, hands down.

Another member of Easy Company, Babe Heffron, passed away on 1 Dec.
Edward J. "Babe" Heffron, whose World War II service as a member of the Army's famed Easy Company was recounted in the book and TV miniseries "Band of Brothers," has died at age 90.
He died Sunday at a hospital in Stratford, N.J., said his daughter, Patricia Zavrel.
Heffron and the rest of his Band of Brothers fought through some of World War II's fiercest European battles. A paratrooper in Company E, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Heffron took part in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and helped liberate the Kaufering concentration camp in Landsberg, Germany. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
After the war, the Philadelphia native returned home and found work at a whiskey distillery. He later checked cargo on the Delaware River waterfront.

He may be 85 years old, but when Army sniper veteran Ted Gundy was given the chance to show off the skills he used in World War Two, he proved he could still keep up with the very best.
That’s because he was invited to try out the Army’s latest technology in a challenge to hit a target a whopping 1,000 yards away.

After all, he had fought in the Battle of the Bulge – considered one of the most defining clashes of U.S. Army history and remains the largest battle ever fought by United States troops.
Before he could get his hands on the modern day equipment, the Army presented him with a 1903 A4 replica sniper – the same he used in the war and had not seen since 1944.

Rodolfo P. “Rudy” Hernandez, a Medal Of Honor recipient from the Korean war passed away about 0400hrs on 21 December 2013 at the age of 82. Hernandez passed away at Womack Army Medical Center after battling cancer. He will be buried at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Funeral arrangements are being finalized.
Cpl. Hernandez, a member of Company G, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy.

His platoon, in defensive positions on Hill 420, came under ruthless attack by a numerically superior and fanatical hostile force, accompanied by heavy artillery, mortar, and machinegun fire which inflicted numerous casualties on the platoon.

His comrades were forced to withdraw due to lack of ammunition but Cpl. Hernandez, although wounded in an exchange of grenades, continued to deliver deadly fire into the ranks of the onrushing assailants until a ruptured cartridge rendered his rifle inoperative.

Immediately leaving his position, Cpl. Hernandez rushed the enemy armed only with rifle and bayonet.

Fearlessly engaging the foe, he killed 6 of the enemy before falling unconscious from grenade, bayonet, and bullet wounds but his heroic action momentarily halted the enemy advance and enabled his unit to counterattack and retake the lost ground.

The indomitable fighting spirit, outstanding courage, and tenacious devotion to duty clearly demonstrated by Cpl. Hernandez reflect the highest credit upon himself, the infantry, and the U.S. Army.

Ahh, yes! this is the other guy.. Max Manus. THIS mother-fucker DEFINES Bad-Ass!!
In reporting his death, the state radio network said he ''did more damage to the German war machine that many major military actions.''

And..
Oh, yeah... That escape out of a window? They don't mention that is was a SIX STORY DROP!!

When the exiled Prince of Norway had his return parade, he chose Mr. Manus to head his personal security detail.

Great movie was made about him, ALL of it true.
