Possibility of Women Serving on the Frontline?

Post by Bronco »

I can't believe this could actually happen. I feel like women wouldn't be able to complete the standards especially since a lot of men can't even pass the standards. I also feel like women shouldn't be put in these kind of situations. Not only that, but I have read that they would cause a lot of sexual tensions and cause a lot of distractions.

From what I've read it doesn't look like they could actually serve in an infantry unit, but possibly get closer to the front lines. Do you think they will end up changing this because most women don't even want to serve in an infantry unit? In addition to that, the little amount of those who want to serve in an infantry unit don't even meet the standards.

The fact is that DoD leadership has approved it, as has Congress. How wide-spread will it become remains to be seen.

I came across this article the other day and it's the most direct I've seen yet in regards to actual dates that women will be included. I refuse to believe women will be allowed through Ranger School, it just doesn't seem feasible. If the Marines are able to get a waiver then hopefully the Rangers can too.

I went through the Mountains twice. First time I pinched a nerve in my right arm and couldn't lift my arm. Went to the hospital at Benning and joined the next class. When I finally graduated, the Commander of the Mountain Camp asked: "Which is worse, Viet-Nam or Ranger School? My answer was "Ranger School is much worse, if you fuck up in Viet-Nam you might die. If you fuck up in Ranger School. You get recycled." Since the 1950s, the Ranger Course has had a 50% attrition rate.
