Pretty cool but after like 2 minutes I started watching the "Blondie shoots the PSL 7.62 x 54 R" video. NOW THAT was what I like to spend my weekends doing!

Re: You Civil War guys are pretty bush league,
They pulled a T-34-76 out of a swamp in Estonia around '05 and after flushing the mud out, they started the damn engine. TONS of videos of this recovery stuff around, a lot of it translated or subtitled.Old Grunt wrote:I'm amazed that after being buried for 70 odd years in the muck, it's still got all its paint and isn't even rusted. Wish I could read Russian.
Another icon of hitler's destruction just took to the skies after being dug out of a Siberian swamp, an IL-2 was restored in Novosibirsk and flew again a few weeks ago. Cold Soviet steel or hot Russian blondes, this vid has something for you: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They've been digging all sorts of stuff up, recovery of their dead and the relics has become something of a national obsession in Russia & the East. Gets a few more of them killed every year, seems WW2 ammo can also still work after all these years. Local museums have all sorts of recovered weaponry and relics, sometimes not deactivated.
Recovering the KIAs for proper reburial doesn't do much for the families (very few didn't lose someone in the war) since a popular superstition in the Red Army held that wearing ID tags was bad luck.
And speaking of Russian bodies Colt, here's some jenshina ruskiya. for you: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(warning: the vid is kind of ok for work, but turn the speakers off)

You might like this one a little better, what with it having paratroopers and all:
