Re: Optics

Post by fatboy »

I have grown to be a fan of the 100m zero, especially for my work rifle. To help out with getting a good version of that zero, I found a thread on m4carbine.net and also on ar15.com that has zero targets with the proper drop/ offset for the distance you want. For example, a 25m zero target for a 100m zero has the aiming point in color with the impact point 2" low in black and white.

Here's the link. Hope this helps.

This is what I use for Iron - https://www.dropbox.com/s/je4o225wwcrcm ... s.pdf?dl=0

For optics, I do POA/POI at 100.

Repeal the 16th, enforce the 10th.

Good article from Paul Howe. I basically do what he does, except I cheat and use the 25m target to set up my sights then confirm at distance. My irons are set for the lollipop hold, and my red dot (2moa aimpoint pro) is poa/poi at 100, which is roughly 2" low at 25. Of course, I'm no where the marksman that he is. I'm more from the school that if I don't hit you with the first few rounds, then I'll keep trying. I mean they give you 30 plus a reload for a reason right? :D
If I can dog it up later, I'll link to a graphic presented by the AWG in support of the 50m zero. It also makes some good points for the 50/200 zero.
