Asking for Help Appealing to GRITS

Post by garyedolan »

Ranger Jerry Bussell was my main front seat pilot of the O-1 Birddog plane when I flew C&C in Nam for Charlie Rangers in '70 & '71. He is the pilot who was a main character in my book, Of Their Own Accord. When Jerry & I reconnected after I wrote my book, we became the very best of friends. He is like a brother I never had. I always admired and respected him from what he taught me in Nam and how he bravely flew in support of our teams on the ground. On more than one occasion, his keen eyes spotted enemy soldiers that vastly outnumbered our teams and I credit him with saving many lives. When he no longer had any rockets beneath his wings, he used the plane as a weapon, diving on the enemy to try to get them to take cover and relieve a team under heavy contact--if only for a moment. His service after retirement is also exceptional. check out this short bio of him at http://homelandsecurity.nv.gov/ARCHIVE% ... tJerry.htm. Not long ago he was honored with the highest award to a citizen of Nevada for his work with Nevada veterans, especially the wounded.
Jerry recently was suddenly diagnosed with some rare, weird cancer. The doctors took out one of his kidneys and some nodes. Now they have to take out some of his brain and a large portion of his liver. The worst part is that they cannot figue out the type cancer so cannot come to agreement of a treatment.
Please individually join me in appealing to GRITS (the GREAT RANGER IN THE SKY) for the guy in Nam we referred to as our Big Ranger-in-the-sky. THANX.
