Well, damn! I had a pair of jungle boots (green canvas) that I used in Germany when I went through the German Mountain school. When we ran down the skree, the heels would mainly dig into the loose rock. So after a week of running down the mountains the heels were totally gone, not the soles, but the actual heel area going up to the ankle.

I threw them out.

Bummer.

I do have a pair of WWII brown jump boots... original. But they still have a spitshine on them.
