here's a goody from the late 70's, it's featured on a current 2010 Lincoln automobile commerical (I had forgot my name was in the song )

Driver's Seat by Sniff'n The Tears

Doing all right
A little jiving on a Saturday night
And come what may
Gonna dance the day away

Jenny was sweet
She always smiled for the people she meet
On trouble and strife
She had another way of looking at life

The news is blue (The news is blue)
Had it's own way to get to you
What can I do? (What can I do? )
When I remember my time with you

Pick up your feet
Got to move to the trick of the beat
There is no elite
Just take your place in the driver's seat
Driver's seat, driver's seat, yeah
Doing all right
A little jiving on a Saturday night
And come what may
Gonna dance the day away
Driver's seat, driver's seat, yeah
Jenny was sweet
There is no elite
Pick up your feet, pick up, pick up
Pick up your feet, gonna dance the day away
Driver's seat, driver's seat, yeah
Driver's seat, driver's seat, yeah

Driver's seat

Chris Cornell rocks, was sgreat with Soundgarden, Audioslave and on his own

Audioslave "Be Yourself"
Someone falls to pieces
Sleeping all alone
Someone kills the pain
Spinning in the silence
She finally drifts away
Someone gets excited
In a chapel yard
And catches a bouquet
Another lays a dozen
White roses on a grave
Yeah...

And to be yourself is all that you can do
Hey...
To be yourself is all that you can do

Someone finds salvation in everyone
Another only pain
Someone tries to hide himself
Down inside himself he prays
Someone swears his true love
Until the end of time
Another runs away
Separate or united
Healthy or insane

And to be yourself is all that you can do(all that you can do)
Yeah..
To be yourself is all that you can do(all that you can do)

To be yourself is all that you can do(all that you can do)
Hey...
Be yourself is all that you can do

even when you've paid enough
been put upon or been held up
with every single memory of
the good or bad, faces of luck
don't lose any sleep tonight
i'm sure everything will end up alright
you may win or lose

But to be yourself is all that you can do
Yeah...
To be yourself is all that you can do

Ohhh...
To be yourself is all that you can do(all that you can do)
Ohhh...
To be yourself is all that you can do(all that you can do)
To be yourself is all that you can--
Be yourself is all that you can--
Be yourself is all that you can dooooooohoooo

Not sure if anyone else likes the TV Series... Cold Case but I cannot change the station when I start watching an episode, love how they flash back to how individuals look back when the case occurred and then how they look currently.

I also love the music that is played during the episodes....many of the songs are back from when I was a teenager, and/ or in college.

Today's episode "Hoodrats" opened up with Dinosaur Jr's song "Feel the Pain", it started playing and that was it I was going no where for the next hour.

And the show ended with The Smashing Pumpkin's song "Disarm" another great song.

Ah oh looks like I'm a posting whore on this thread (3 in a row)

Well heard an oldie but a goody on my way home from the gym this evening...... so I had to turn up the song to as loud as the speakers would go, opened the sunroof and windows and sang it at the top of my lungs drivng down I-5... we're having a heat wave here compared to the rest of the nation (46 degrees at around 7:30PM)

Steve Miller's Jungle Love

I met you on somebody's island
You thought you had known me before
I brought you a crate of papaya
They waited all night by your door
You probably wouldn't remember
I probably couldn't forget
Jungle love in the surf in the pouring rain
Everything's better when wet

Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy

But lately you live in the jungle
I never see you alone
But we need some definite answers
So I thought I would write you a poem
The question to everyone's answer
Is usually asked from within
But the patterns of the rain
And the truth they contain
Have written my life on your skin

Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy

You treat me like I was your ocean
You swim in my blood when it's warm
My cycles of circular motion
Protect you and keep you from harm
You live in a world of illusion
Where everything's peaches and cream
We all face a scarlet conclusion
But we spend our time in a dream

Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy

Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy

BUMP

Guess I'll continue my posting monopoly of this thread, only 3 years later......

American The Beautiful was listening to Elvis's rendition of it

O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassion'd stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law. O beautiful for heroes prov'd In liberating strife, Who more than self their country lov'd, And mercy more than life. America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness, And ev'ry gain divine. O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears. America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea.

Also including the Original poem (1893)
America. A Poem for July 4. O beautiful for halcyon skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the enameled plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, Till souls wax fair as earth and air And music-hearted sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern, impassioned stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness! America! America! God shed His grace on thee Till paths be wrought through wilds of thought By pilgrim foot and knee! O beautiful for glory-tale Of liberating strife, When once or twice, for man's avail, Men lavished precious life! America! America! God shed His grace on thee Till selfish gain no longer stain, The banner of the free! O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears! America! America! God shed His grace on thee Till nobler men keep once again Thy whiter jubilee!

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars.
I've been living on the edge so long.Where the winds of limbo roar.

And I'm young enough to look at And far too old to see.
All the scars are on the inside.

I'm not sure if there's anything left of me.
Don't let these shakes go on.

It's time we had a break from it.
It's time we had some leave. We've been living in the flames We've been eating up our brains Oh, please don't let theses shakes go on.

You ask me why I'm weary, why I can't speak to you. You blame me for my silence. Say it's time I changed and grew. But the war's still going on dear And there's no end that I know.

And I can't say if we're ever... I can't say if we're ever gonna to be free.

Don't let these shakes go on. It's time we had a break from it. It's time we had some leave. We've been living in the flames. We've been eating out our brains. Oh, please don't let theses shakes go on.

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars. My energy's spent at last. And my armor is destroyed. I have used up all my weapons and I'm helpless and bereaved. Wounds are all I'm made of.

Did I hear you say that this is victory?

Don't let these shakes go on. It's time we had a break from it. Send me to the rear. Where the tides of madness swell. And been sliding into hell Oh, please don't let shakes go on. Don't let these shakes go on.Don't let these shakes go on.

This ones been with me quite a bit over the past year.

These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands And always will be
Some day you'll return to me
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed all your suffering
As the battle raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me My brothers in arms

There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms

Celtic thunders is bettrr than Dire Straits.

I was watching "ID" the other day where the lyrics to a Guns & Roses song became central to the prosecution of a murder case in Florida. This guy was on trial for killing his wife. He allegedly shot her in the head while they were walking along a Florida beach at night. Then he allegedly dragged the body into the surf, face down, and drowned her just to make sure she was dead. Then he allegedly shot himself four times (!!!!), in the arm, hand, chest, and stomach. An expert witness, an MD with three decades of emergency room experience, testified that at least two of the wounds could easily have been fatal. The husband claimed that a stranger had approached him and his wife on the beach and started shooting.

The accused had downloaded the Guns & Roses song "Used to Love Her" that very morning (one of 21 songs he'd downloaded that morning). The DA's office was jumping up and down clicking their heels when they found it on the husband's computer. "Here's the evidence we need to prosecute", they claimed. And here are the lyrics:

I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

I used to love her, Oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her
So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my backyard
Oh yeah, Oo yeah, whoa, oh yeah

I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
She bitched so much, She drove me nuts
And now I'm happier this way, yeah
Whoa, oh yeah

I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her, Oo, six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

Now who was it in this forum who claimed they had no use for lawyers? A jury certainly could have been swayed into thinking the accused was guilty based solely on the fact that he'd downloaded this Guns & Roses tune, with these lyrics, on the same day his wife was murdered on a Jacksonville beach.

But wait. His defense lawyer did some digging, some research. Turns out this song wasn't about somebody killing a wife or girlfriend at all. Because according to Axel Rose himself, the song was about his elderly female mutt who had malignant cancer and had to be put down. After she was euthanized at the vet’s office, Rose brought her home and buried her “six feet under” in his back yard.

On this point and others, the defense lawyer made the DA prosecution team look like a bunch of bumpkins. The jury was hung. The accused walked. Yes, I believe he was guilty, as did 99% of people watching this episode. But that doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that the court produce sufficient evidence to prosecute. That evidence didn’t exist in this trial. Everything the DA produced was speculation. They didn’t even produce a gun. So a killer walked…thanks to a brilliant defense lawyer.

Sung by Melissa Manchester: Don't Cry out loud.
Very personal for me, and I told Ms Manchester that at the Kennedy Center.

Baby cried the day the circus came to town
'Cause she didn't want parades just passing by her
So she painted on a smile
And took up with some clown
While she danced without a net upon the wire
I know a lot about her
'Cause you see
Baby is an awful lot like me

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside
Learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall
Remember you almost had it all
Baby saw that when they pulled that big top down
They left behind her dreams among the litter
The different kind of love she thought she'd found
There was nothin' left but sawdust and some glitter
But baby can't be broken
'Cause you see
She had the finest teacher
That was me, I told her

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside
And learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall
Remember you almost had it all

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside
And learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall
Remember you almost made it

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside
And learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall
Remember you almost had it all
