No music to this .....but it is from Songs and ballads of Rudyard Kipling....,

TOMMY
by Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;
While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind",
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

By the Rising of the Moon

And come tell me Sean O'Farrell tell me why you hurry so
Husha buachaill hush and listen and his cheeks were all a glow
I bare orders from the captain get you ready quick and soon
For the pikes must be together by the rising of the moon

By the rising of the moon, by the rising of the moon
For the pikes must be together by the rising of the moon

And come tell me Sean O'Farrell where the gath'rin is to be
At the old spot by the river quite well known to you and me
One more word for signal token whistle out the marchin' tune
With your pike upon your shoulder by the rising of the moon

By the rising of the moon, by the rising of the moon
With your pike upon your shoulder by the rising of the moon

Out from many a mud wall cabin eyes were watching through the night
Many a manly heart was beating for the blessed warning light
Murmurs rang along the valleys to the banshees lonely croon
And a thousand pikes were flashing by the rising of the moon

By the rising of the moon, by the rising of the moon
And a thousand pikes were flashing by the rising of the moon

All along that singing river that black mass of men was seen
High above their shining weapons flew their own beloved green
Death to every foe and traitor! Whistle out the marching tune
And hurrah, me boys, for freedom, 'tis the rising of the moon

'Tis the rising of the moon, 'tis the rising of the moon
And hurrah, me boys, for freedom, 'tis the rising of the moon

The Foggy Dew

I was down the glen one Easter mornTo a city fair rode I.
There armed lines of marching menIn squadrons passed me by.
No pipe did hum, no battle drum did sound its loud tattoo.
But the Angelus Bells o'er the Liffey swells rang out in the foggy dew.
Right proudly high in Dublin townHung they out a flag of war.
'Twas better to die 'neath that Irish skythan at Sulva or Sud el Bar.
And from the plains of Royal Meathstrong men came hurrying through
While Brittania's huns with their long range gunssailed in through the foggy dew.
Their bravest fell and the requiem bellrang mournfully and clear
For those who died that Eastertide in thespringing of the year.
While the world did gaze with deep amazeat those fearless men but few
.Who bore the fight that freedom's light
Might shine through the foggy dew.And back through the glenI rode again.
And my heart with grief was sore.
For I parted then with valiant men
Whom I never shall see n'more.
But to and fro in my dreams I go
And I kneel and pray for you.
For slavery fled the glorious deadwhen you fell in the foggy dew.

Yeah their dated .....so what

Riden a raid

'Tis old Stonewall, the Rebel, that leans on his sword,
And while we are mounting, prays low to the Lord:
"Now each cavalier that loves Honor and Right,
Let him follow the feather of Stuart tonight."

(Chorus)
Come tighten your girth and slacken your rein;
Come buckle your blanket and holster again;
Try the click of your trigger and balance your blade,
For he must ride sure that goes Riding a Raid!

Now gallop, now gallop, to swim or to ford!
Old Stonewall, still watching, prays low to the Lord:
"Good-bye dear old Rebel! The river's not wide,
And Maryland's lights in her window to guide."
(Chorus)

There's a man in a white house with blood on his mouth!
If there's Knaves in the North, there are braves in the South.
We are three thousand horses, and not one afraid;
We are three thousand sabres and not a dull blade.
(Chorus)

Then gallop, then gallop, by ravines and rocks!
Who would bar us the way take his toll in hard knocks;
For with these points of steel, on the line of Penn,
We have made some fine strokes-and we'll make 'em again.

Growing up in SC, I heard this song on Confederate memorial day and around Hunting camps .....usually after MANY beers.

I'm A Good Old Rebel

Oh, I'm a good old Rebel
Now that's just what I am
For this fair land of freedom
I do not care a damn.
I'm glad I fit against it
I only wish we'd won.
And I don't want no pardon
For anything I've done.

I hates the Constitution
This great Republic too
I hates the Freedmen's Buro
In uniforms of blue.
I hates the nasty eagle
With all his brag and fuss
But the lyin', thievin' Yankees
I hates' em wuss and wuss.

Three hundred thousand Yankees
Lies still in Southern dust
We got three hundred thousand
Before they conquered us
They died of Southern fever
And Southern steel and shot
I wish they was three million
Instead of what we got.

I can't take up my musket
And fight' em now no mo'
But I ain't a-goin'to love' em
Now that is sartin sho'
And I don't want no pardon
For what I was and am
And I won't be reconstructed
And I do not give a damn.

Toadies have gotten back together and put out a new one. this had been in heavy, heavy rotation since I got it. I"m not pissed at a chick or anything meaningful, it's just a kick ass beat and riff.

I am a Man of Stone

I saw you standing on the arm of some other guy
Like a drummer who's been bangin' steading steady beat in 4/4 time
Now you're flicking out your cigarette
Battin' eyes and pouting lips
Giving him the lovin' I need
But I can tell those eyes
Have an emptiness behind them
You don't look so happy to me
You're so lost
You're so alone
And I'm standing here
I am a man of stone

You said baby don't change and I did not change
You said give me all your lovin' and I did every day
Now you're tattooed on my skin
And my chest is caving in
From the weight of the pain you bring
Now you got me branded
But I'm still standing
Watching you wreck everything
You're so lost
You're so cold
And I am standing here
I am a man of stone

My feet are stuck to the ground
My love has bound me here
I am a statue now
I gave you my last tear
Some day you'll wake up
And you'll think of me and know
I am a man of stone

You're so lost
You're so alone
And I'm standing here
I am a man of stone

I have been a traveler, I've seen the far countries.
marched accross the meadows, sailed upon the seas
faced the fearsome slaughter of the maddness of the line
watched the death of innocence ....surprised when it was mine.

I have seen the seagulls where ocean washes sand
seen the cold steel flahing, felt the hot blood on my hands.
Heard the screams of wounded men just praying to be dead.
followed many leaders and .....was followed were I lead.

When I found a lady love it was mostly quick and cold,
Bartered for their services with cloth and food and gold.
But when the Army marched away some few might tag along
to walk behind the baggage trains ....singing baudy songs ..

But now I am old but hale enough
with many tales to tell
my shares bought me this roadside in
that suits my temper well
but when the weathers cold my wounds will ache again I fear
I kill the pain with sleeping herb ....and mugs of barley beer.

you say your for the cavalry
a dashing cavalier
but horsemen too must fight on foot
when fodder comes too dear
so if by chance you find yourself dismounted in the line
keep always in between to friends
.......and one eye out behind

Take with ye my hanger boy, thats ever at my side
theres some say shes a lucky blade it often saved my hide
and if your Ma had lived I sure she'd weep to see ya go
as it is godspeed my son ....I've taught ya all I know.

good song just heard it again for the 1st time in a long time

"Fallen" by Sarah McLachlan

Heaven bend to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight

Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear

Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

We all begin with good intent
Love was raw and young
We believed that we could change ourselves
THe past could be undone
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
In the lonely light of morning
In the wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I've held so dear.

I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

Heaven bend to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turn their heads embarassed
Pretend that they don't see
But it's one missed step
One slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed

Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

A little dark for some:

No mommy, don't do it again
Don't do it again
I'll be a good boy
I'll be a good boy, I promise
No mommy don't hit me
Why did you have to hit me like that, mommy?
Don't do it, you're hurting me
Why did you have to be such a bitch
Why don't you,
Why don't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just leave here and die
Never stick your hand in my face again bitch
FUCK YOU
I don't need this shit
You stupid sadistic abusive fucking whore
How would you like to see how it feels mommy
Here it comes, get ready to die

C Am F C
Me and the boy's we cinched up our saddles and rode to sonora last night
C Am F C
Gun's hanging proud, daring out loud for any one looking to fight
F C F
G
Card cheats and rustlers would run for their holes when the boys from the
old broken O
C Am F C
Rode up and reined on the street that they named Sonora's death row

Mescal is free at Amanda's saloon for the boy's from the old broken O
Saturday nights in the town of Sonora are the best in all Mexico
They've got guitars and trumpets and sweet senoritas who won't want to let
you go
You'd never believe such a gay happy time on the street called Sonora's
death row

Inside Amanda's we was a dancin' with all of Amanda's gals
I won some silver at seven card stud so I was out doin' my pals
But the whiskey and mescal, peso cigars drove me outside for some air
Somebody whispered "Your life or your money", I reached but my gun wasn't there

Break:

I woke up face down in Amanda's back alley aware of the fool I had been
Rushed to my pony, grabbed my Winchester and entered Amanda's again
Where I saw my partners twirling my pistols and throwing my money around
Blinded by anger, I jacked the lever and one of them fell to the ground

Amanda's got silent like night in the desert, my friends stared in pure
disbelief
Amanda was kneeling beside the dead cowboy plainly expressing her grief
And as I bowed my head a trembled shot through me my six-gun was still at
my side
I felt my pockets, there was my money, I fell to my knees and I cried

A nightmare of mescal is all that it was for no one had robbed me at all
I wish I was dreaming the sound of the gallows they're testing just outside
the wall
The mescal's still free at Amanda's saloon for the boy's from the old Broken O
I'd give a ransom to drink there today and be free of Sonora's death row
I'd give a ransom to drink there today and be free of Sonora's death row
