Got selected but never shipped to Q.

Post by Big Kev »

I attended SFAS in 1998 and was selected 18D. I mainly went strictly out of curiosity. After serving for 5 years in the Ranger Regiment and training hooahs, I felt that is where my loyalties lay. Now those days are come and gone. I am now serving on active duty for the National Gaurd. I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on any options that I may have as far as attending Q or having to possibly go back to selection. Thanks for any help from you guys.

Selection used to be permanent but as of last year it has a three year shelf life. My beer math is a little fuzzy, but since you attended almost ten years ago it looks like you'd have to go again.

There are SF guard units, but I'm not familiar with them. If you wanted to remain guard but go the SF route that would probably be your best bet.

Hope that helps.

My S3Air NCO had a running clock on his SFAS back in 2002. I think he had an 8 year gap and the 'powers that be' told him to get to the Q post haste or he'd have to go again.

Regardless, I think yours has expired.

Guard might make an exception. With your background they'd certainly want you.

Besides, doing Selection again would fall in the category of things that "suck the most," so your course of action should be clear.
