Straight Troops Must Shower With Gays, Says DOD

Post by C-MAC »

It begins, but don't worry it wont impact the mission or be a distraction. Really.

(CNSNews.com) - A special Defense Department working group appointed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates has recommended that the military should “expressly prohibit” heterosexuals from using separate showers, bathrooms and bunking facilities from homosexuals when the repeal of the law banning homosexuals from the military goes into effect.

The working group also has recommended that commanding officers be left with the authority to exempt individuals from using the same showers, bathrooms and living facilities as homosexuals, but only on a “case-by-case” basis.

The House voted earlier this week and the Senate voted this afternoon to repeal the military ban on homosexuals, which has often been referred to as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

The working group’s Nov. 30 report—“Report of the Comprehensive Review of the Issues Associated with a Repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’”--concluded that permitting heterosexuals to use separate showers, bathrooms and bunking facilities from homosexuals of the same gender would “stigmatize” homosexuals and be “reminiscent of ‘separate but equal’ facilities for blacks prior to the 1960s.” The working group was co-chaired by Jeh Charles Johnson, the Defense Department’s general counsel, and U.S. Army Gen. Carter F. Ham.

By this logic, shouldn't men and women be prohibited from using seperate facilities and quarters as well?

Exactly my thoughts.
The university campuses whose faculty are otherwise so supportive of gay agendas do not require straights to bunk with gays, students can request reassignments. But not surprising, academia is at best dismissive and condescending towards servicemembers, a class that is utterly alien to the professorial/chattering classes.

This part made my head explode;
permitting heterosexuals to use separate showers, bathrooms and bunking facilities from homosexuals of the same gender would “stigmatize” homosexuals and be “reminiscent of ‘separate but equal’ facilities for blacks prior to the 1960s
You really have to be kidding me. It is genuinely insulting that liberals continue to compare the disgusting, diabolical practice of discriminating against someone and declaring them a lesser human being due to the color of their skin to some person making a choice to uninterruptedly crave and cohabitate with the same sex.

Also, I frankly don't want to worry about some guy staring at my johnson when taking a shower and I am guessing that is not just me. Oh and I also can't wait for MSM footage of the first guy/gal coming back from deployment and planting one on the lips of their "partner" in front of everyone else's wives/children. Then complete the film at 11 with a requisite weepy-eyed interview.

They are really trying to kill the whole choices have consequences/majority rule maxims and turn them contra-intellectually on their heads. IMHO.

Sorry, but I really hope an entire company someday runs to the CO for an "exception". Mission first my Aunt Sally.

Yeah. And this WAS a little rant. But the fact this takes resources away from the mission, eats up valuable training time, ignores the majorities desire and distracts/gridlocks the command structure really burns my behind.

Some meat gazer has probably already stared at your pee pee in the shower, except for now you will probably have a good idea who he is. I probably never even knew what a homosexual was until I was 12 and then thought that that was just something you would find somewhere else. I never gave much thought to the idea that there were homosexuals in the same Army that I was or even in the same community where I lived. In retrospect, I believe I can see where a couple of guys I served with probably were gay. The cavalry survived losing horses, the 75th survived losing the black beret, and I suppose the US military will survive with homosexuals serving openly or at least I hope it will.

I got this in an e-mail from a friend and found it thought provoking.
THIS ARTICLE BRINGS UP SOME INTERESTING POINTS I HADN'T THOUGHT OF.....THE DECISION AS TO IMPLEMENTING ANY POLICY LIKE THIS SHOULD BE LEFT UP TO THE CHIEFS OF STAFF OF EACH MILITARY SERVICE, NOT TO POLITICAL 'TOUCHY-FEELY' LIBERALS.

Written by a retired Marine officer with excellent command credentials.
-----------------Quoted message follows----------------------------------------------------
I was skeptical of DADT also. But, it worked because the objective was to permit individuals to serve. Not once did I ask a Marine if he or she was a homosexual or a heterosexual. It was not an issue for me, and the Marines with whom I served never made it an issue.
Unlike DADT, the current agenda in not about individual service. It is a political agenda focused on total integration and acceptance not of individuals but of the homosexual lifestyle.
I think ending DADT suddenly is a major distraction to combat readiness and good order and discipline. Special interest groups whose primary intent is fostering total acceptance not only of homosexuals but the homosexual lifestyle are using the Armed Forces as a judicial lab rat.
I suspect any person who puts a personal issue above devotion to duty and accomplishment of mission. Are we Marines 24/7? What is more important one's sexuality, one's religion, one political party, or the imperatives of duty?
On a practical level:
I am not sure what serving "Openly" as a homosexual means. I would like to see a definition Is all homosexual conduct permitted? Such as cross dressing and going to the PX? What conduct is not permitted? From a command and leadership perspective these questions need to be addressed, and the Congress needs to make the necessary adjustments to the UCMJ.
When someone joins the Armed Forces must he/she declare their sexuality? i.e. male or female; homo/hetro
I want to know how Federal hate speech laws apply to the Armed Forces. For example, If a non-homosexual Marine calls a homosexual Marine a "faggot" is that hate speech? Will company commanders be required to take judicial action? If no judicial action is taken, will commanders be subject to civil or criminal suit by various homosexual political groups and their elected sponsors.
Will a career Marine's personal opinion on homosexuality become an impediment to promotion or assignment to key billets?

Specifically, is the belief that homosexuality is a choice and homosexual acts immoral not compatible with military service?
Do the Senate and the House Armed Services committees intend to demand sexuality statistics to make certain that homosexuals are being promoted at the same rate as non-homosexuals? Will homosexuals be promoted at a faster rate to "compensate" for previous years of discrimination?
Since same sex marriage is not authorized by Federal Law is a married homosexual from MA authorized to enlist? Does the spouse of a married homosexual rate a dependent's ID card? Will "partners" of homosexuals be given dependent status?

If yes, what is the definition of a "partner", one night stand, one year relationship. How often may a homosexual change partners and the partner still rate dependent benefits? Will partners of homosexuals be assigned to on-base housing? Do former "partners" of active duty homosexuals retain dependent benefits (like a divorced spouse) when divorce is not a legal option?
Will homosexual Marines be permitted to date each other? Live with each other as "partners" in the BOQ/BEQ? How does this affect fraternization regulations?
Will homosexuals be deployed to countries where there is no SOFA in place in which homosexuality is a crime? If no, who picks up the slack?
Are there any assignments to which homosexuals must be or may not be assigned? For example, may an elected official demand a homosexual officer as a military aide?
Will homosexuals who become HIV positive still be discharged? Is being HIV positive now a "service connected" injury which rates disability?
These are just the tip of the ice berg. I have no doubt that right now there are active duty colonels who are just now discovering their real sexuality and can't wait to be the FIRST OPENLY HOMOSEXUAL GENERAL
To sum it up, it is approaching FUBAR status!! I fear for the future of our Corps.

It is my understanding that while DADT has been repealed, http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/10/654.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is still in place. So in other words, if you are found out, you will find yourself out.

Looking at it from a Military Police stand point..I wonder how many times we will have to deal with fights/assaults/harrassment due to this oh so enlightened decision by the powers that be...

You know, if I was an evil overlord and I had one small part of my evil empire that would not go along with any of my evil nefarious plans, because they still had an obviously flawed sense of honor and duty, I would find some way to make them all resign, quit or retire, so that I can fill it with evil henchmen who would do my bidding... BWAHAHAHAHA!

First I would make sure they got no more pay raises... or make them so small that they would be not noticed!

Next, I would keep sending them out on repeated deployments, and while they are on these deployments I will make sure that they have rules in place that will stop them from doing their job.

Next, I will allow those in their ranks that they do not approve of, and then if any of the old breed complain, I can have them fired for not being a team player!

There was an active duty Lt. Col. n a news show yesterday(I can't remember which one) that came right out and said how happy he was that it was repealed and that he hasn't had any problems even though he "came out" over a year and a half ago and has been serving openly gay ever since. The idiot interviewing him never even asked why his chain of command failed to enforce the current policy for that length of time.

Ok. I just burned my eyes out with a hot poker after reading that.

Seriously, what burns my ass is they have lost sight of the mission and purpose. IMHO there are too many personnel specialist MOS' and far too many mid level officers walking around with masters degrees in social re-engineering. So we end up with a bunch of pencil pushing nerds using the military as their freakin rat maze. That's why our military ends up with the Ft. Hood murderer, Manning and all these other misfits. They push sensitivity training when guys should be learning how to properly fuel a jet, attack a fortified position, jump out of a plane or transport heavy equipment in battlefield conditions.

I often wonder where the Hell Manning's CO was when he was stealing gobs of classified information on CD's labeled Lady Gaga. Did they know the guys was a rump rustler and back off because of his SIT? I can't wait to hear that testimony in his Article 32.

In the end, this all distracts from the mission and makes us weaker. I mean, sensitivity training? You have to be freakin kidding me? What are they going to teach the troops? How to respect the Muslim traditions so if someone gets captured by AQ they can be polite to their hosts? Oh, no wait. How about teaching that when some DADT sop stares at you in the shower plunging your tooth brush through his eye socket might not be the best response? "Talk it out like men, err, equal fellow human beings". Please, whatever happened to fight it out like men and go have a beer?

In terms of DADT, I think it is going to be the coupe de grace and very negative to the mission especially if the implementation end up in the hands of these pencil necks that kiss the asses of brass supporting this stupidity. I really don't envy anyone tasked with enforcing this. But, the first jerk that gets 86'd for sub standard performance is going to sue and say it's because he craves another man's behind. And that will be after his CoC wasted a gazillion hours holding his hand. That serves nobody's purpose and pulls butts away from the core mission. Again, pure negative.

Dumb questions.

Does anyone think gays will seriously opt for combat arms branches? Does anyone think a gay could successfully complete OSUT and RASP?

I can understand them working in support branches but not where they might wind up on the firing line.

Just asking.
