C.H.P. Troop

Post by RANGER513 »

It has been a bad month for LEO's......

Rest In Peace, Trooper.

Prayers out again tonight.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We regret to report the death of California Highway Patrol Officer Philip Ortiz. Trooper Ortiz succumbed to injuries sustained two weeks earlier when he was struck by a vehicle on I-405 in West Los Angeles.

Trooper Ortiz was issuing a traffic citation to a driver when another car, which was driving on the shoulder passing other vehicles, struck him and his motorcycle.

Trooper Ortiz was pinned under the wreckage and had to be extricated by the responding rescue crew. He was transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where he remained until passing away yesterday, June 22, 2010.

Trooper Ortiz had served with the California Highway Patrol for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, parents, and sister.

Sympathy cards may be sent to the California Highway Patrol, P.O. Box 942898, Sacramento, CA 94298. Questions regarding funeral arrangements or survivor benefit fund information can be obtained by calling the CHP at (916) 657-7261.

Please keep the family of Trooper Ortiz and the men and women of the California Highway Patrol in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
