WWII Rangers reunite in Columbus

Post by Chiron »

The lobby of the Holiday Inn on Manchester Express was teeming Thursday with the who’s who of U.S. Army Ranger royalty, in town this week for their annual reunion.

There was Len Lomell, who earned the Distinguished Service Cross for destroying the howitzer cannons at Pointe du Hoc on D-Day.

“I’m the guy that found the guns,” Lomell, now 89, said with a playful grin.

Went there last night...sat in awe as one Ranger talked about being captured at Anzio, escaping and being folded into the Russian army until they linked up with American units....truly amazing experience I'll never forget. I'm going back tonight...obviously.

This pic is of two WWII Rangers, and 2 current hooahs from 3/75. Both of them are NCO's in the Mortar platoon, their PSG is a member of this board.

Scott, those young Rangers are most fortunate. By the way, the 75th RRA has offered Merrill's Marauders the use of Patrolling magazine when they dissolve their veteran's organization next year. I continue to be amazed by those fine gentlemen.

Merrill's Mauraders are are also turning over their colors to the Association, and their members and RBA members will be given 75th RRA memberships as their associations become inactive.
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!
